Shaw's Supermarket Chat Thread

This thread is being created for the OT chat that goes into the Shaw's Deals thread. We are a chatty bunch and have become an extended family. I heart the OT chat, but agree that sometimes we just want to read about the deals. So hopefully this thread will help decrease the OT in the deals thread and we all have a place to chat with each other.

Ugh. Can't find my debit card for my personal checking account (although I just had it Wed). Luckily I have a redcard to use at work so I won't miss it much til the new one arrives (after I call bank in morning).

Stopped to grab a couple more Sterilite modular storage containers from WM. Found a new (to me) color: clear or opaque purple with a purple top. Picked up two and they rang up $6 instead of $8.47 as marked. Went back and got two more and the larger size which was $8 instead of $11.47 19gal was smaller and 27gal was larger. Wish they had the smaller ones like we already have as well, but I'll take what I can on storage savings. I've loaded them pretty full and they've done well for about a year now, which is why I went for more.

Picked up an Android-compatible alarm clock with docking/charger and dual alarm as well as FM radio for $50 from work. Normally $109, but on TPC. Smaller one was $40 normally $90, and has same charger/dock, single alarm, no radio, but a night light feature. We've been using DH's alarm from middle school or mine from college since we got married. Needless to say the upgrade was long overdue. Made by Phillips.

Snagged an African Violet pot from Savers for $1.99, plus a pair of jeans and some long sleeved tops for $5 or under each and a Lupine halter for .99...the brand that will replace it if your dog chews through it (and am halfway through the savings card-since I bought a couple books and other things as well).

Tried to nab a pack of napkins for Karen but they went INF this morning....stupid heads.

Picked up the bias tape making kit I wanted at Joann's thanks to the 60% off coupon in the App, available as a printed coupon as well. Also grabbed some seasonal fabric for 50% off. Which is what lead to buying more storage bins-my fabric stash of $4/yd or under for later is outgrowing its current storage container. nod

Day off tomorrow. Gonna reorganize my sewing stuff, make dinner, and maybe take a bath. DH has to work tomorrow....so I only have the morning and afternoon (maybe) to spend time with him.

Hey all...Dennis and I are leaving for Arkansas by way of Ohio later this morning. Will be hitting to Rock Roll and NFL Hall of Fame, Amish Country and Pattersons Air Force Museum along the way. I thin Jenny has lived in that area. Is there anyplace else there to check out or deals to be had? Will be back Tday weekend but will still be watching here by phone!

That's absolutely sad; I'm just hoping Shaw's can get in stronger hands as I know some areas can really use an additional competitor with a stronger offering.

Another good turkey deal if someone is looking for something higher end than your typical turkeys is that Trader Joes has all natural turkeys for $1.99/lb; which is pretty cheap for what it is compared to what other turkeys you can compare it to.

Went into Shaw's last night (of all places) to get some ice cream. GIfford's is $2.99/qt which is pretty good. They have a good black raspberry chocolate chip frozen yogurt and of course it's a quality product straight from ME. This sells all the time at Hannaford for $4.79/qt.

Are there any Ocean State Job Lots in Maine? I know they are in NH but not sure of Maine. If there are, I saw a big sign in the window today that 1 pound of walnuts were $5.50. Not a fantastic price but better than $7-8.

Just applied for a different position at work. Worried sick about the interview process, as its a bit higher league than the one I had to suffer through for my current position. And if I have to answer more of the agree/disagree questions at the first interview I may just vomit . Last time the first section was identical to the one you did online and the second section was the first only backward. Needless to say I simply copied the answers in reverse. Big Grin Then the "tell me about a defining moment where you showed leadership" ick. Worst than college entrance essays.

But I missed applying for the last two positions I wanted, so I figured I'd better get it in and just hope I do well in the interview process. Going to talk to one of my new fave workers about how his went, since he just got the spot he interviewed for. And I do already know everyone who will likely interview me (store manager, district manager, etc) as I've met them through volunteering and store visits, etc.

With the second vehicle we can manage the possible schedule differences and can use the pay increase, even if its slight.

Hh is loving the Jeep...he's working on his wish list for Xmas already. Bought seat covers from Dickies and will be embroidering them and a matching spare tire cover to advertise his embroidery business. He's getting a starter installed this weekend. My mom bought us a GC to a local palce for my car but we never got around to it, cause I don't care much either way...so I told DH to go see what he wanted to use it on.

I miss you guys...we need a get together somewhere before the holidays are over. Sometime between Turkey Day and Xmas. I still have jam for Heather...and baby stuff for Liz...and I haven't seen Susan or Carla in ages...

Well lady good luck on the interview. You are very resourceful so I know you will do well. Yes a get together would be awsome but would be hard before the holidays. I promise Dennis and I will get there in January. We always need a bright sunny day at the Nubble in dead of winter. And I have showm Dennis you dogs pics..I think he would like to meet them

Quick update - posted the diapers on crasigslist, $5 for jumbo pks, $7 for pks out of boxes (higher count than jumbo pks), $14 for box, $2 for opened pk... Got 4 emails in 1/2 an hour! Not sure why, but I wasn't thinking anyone would be interested! Hopefully they have babies, and aren't looking for resale, but whatever!

Agreed Ang, its been a while! Should be down again on the 23rd, and 25th. Although I don't think I will go near target on black Friday laugh out loud, might have to go Sunday Smilie
