Shaw's Supermarket Chat Thread

This thread is being created for the OT chat that goes into the Shaw's Deals thread. We are a chatty bunch and have become an extended family. I heart the OT chat, but agree that sometimes we just want to read about the deals. So hopefully this thread will help decrease the OT in the deals thread and we all have a place to chat with each other.

I haven't been posting here much lately, but this is the only place I know to see some of you. My Mom was diagnosed with cancer last summer. She passed away last night, peacefully, in her sleep. That's exactly how Mom wanted it to be, she wasn't in pain, and I'm so glad that Lia and I got to see her last weekend. Hug your family today, my friends.
Oh Karen so sorry for your loss!!! Happy that she is now at peace though and that you got to spend time with her. I'll say a prayer for her tonight. ((Hugs)) let me know if u need anything.

Tomorrow is my moms birthday I'm hoping to do something special in her honor. It's a great tradition I like to do for her bday and passing. Usually we go to one of her favorite restaurants or something she liked.

For those of you who knew murphycat (Heather), her husband and family posted on her Facebook page this evening that she passed away today. Frown
Quote :
Hi Heather Facebook friends, this is her husband Garett .

This might shock some of you who were not all that close in recent years but it is with regret that I report to you that she died this evening from multiple organ failure due to chronic pancreatitis directly caused from many years of alcohol abuse. I would rather just get that out there as opposed to all the misinformation that could potentially be floating around.

She first went into the hospital mid-August with a severe acute pancreatic attack (the last of many that occurred over the past several years) and made a very slow recovery that was also complicated by alcohol withdrawals. Heather finally made it home late-September and ended up back in the hospital a week later with another round of acute kidney failure. Another week there and she was home again. We had of course hoped for a full recovery but days later her liver and kidneys continued to fail and it was clear she could not recover.

Her last weeks were clouded in mental confusion and difficult physical limitations as her condition progressed. Fortunately in the early stages she was able to ask for forgiveness from her four children and some family members but literally ran out of time to get to recovery and rebuilding relationships lost.

Throughout, the family and I chose to keep word on this to immediate friends, work and family to lessen the burden on the kids and its overall impact on the family. They really did not, and do not, want special attention due to her death and its circumstances preferring instead to move on and get through the coming days as they look forward to new opportunities in their lives.

Still, we loved her no matter what and will never forget her no matter her failings and successes.

No idea yet what is going on so far for arrangements, I’ll get the word out when I do. I know that many people blocked her so please let those who did know just for FYI.

Thanks,

Wow, too much sadness lately. Things happen in 3's so that's it for me, my sister in law's cousin lost his husband a couple weeks ago, organ failure too, pretty sudden and he was pretty young. It's never easy. My heart goes out to all who need it. Extra hugs for you Karen. I haven't been couponing lately really, just a few here and there with my weekly shopping, but nothing crazy, so I haven't been checking the threads. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi there. It's been a tough year, but things are better. What with DH passing last December, then having to move and live with my Mom for a while, then a double hernia operation on Easter Sunday (emergency!), then recuperating, then trying to find an extra job, old attorney boss passed away last January, new attorney in office not busy at all, etc., etc. Finally moved into my own apartment the beginning of October and have been working at a local pizza shop for a few months now and hoping the estate planning business picks back up so I have that additional income.

I haven't been spending that much time chasing the deals lately, so doing more lurking than posting, LOL!

Congrats, Karen! It sounds like the circle of life - one loved one leaves and another joins the family.

You definitely have had enough on your plate.Glad things are looking up. I havent been chasing deals much either. I am hoping to retire from my current job somewhere in 2015. So adding every penny to pay my car off quicker. The deals were mostly for our kids, not us so was easy to cut back. Told them they need to do more on their own and they have survived LOL
