Shaw's Supermarket Chat Thread

This thread is being created for the OT chat that goes into the Shaw's Deals thread. We are a chatty bunch and have become an extended family. I heart the OT chat, but agree that sometimes we just want to read about the deals. So hopefully this thread will help decrease the OT in the deals thread and we all have a place to chat with each other.

Have another question for my in-the-know Shaws people. I am new to eating Greek yogurt as I just started by trying the Hannaford brand. Are the expirations to be strictly followed? I am not to choosy usually except for milk and this is a dairy product. I have a few more with today's date on it and wonder if I should discard them or eat them this week. Since yogurt is already kind of sour tasting (tome), I'm not sure how to tell if it's turned bad even if I tasted it. Thanks!
I believe its good for one week after last sale date.

I wonder if they have only the new gs1 bar codes.
Shaw's can't read these yet.
Like the Luigi's Italian Ice coupons out now? What a PITA, one cashier had no idea what to do, he tried punching in the numbers but they didn't work, eventually put it through manually as grocery, but they didn't double (CS took care of it).

I was told by a FEM in Westbrook that they were going to be getting a computer system over haul soon. She was looking through my coupons for the cashier, and seeing the Dannimals one's beep (I told her the one's from that company always beep, which they do), and that's when she mentioned it, so hopefully it will include the new bar code.

I normally only go a couple days past on yogurt from the store. Hard to tell if stockers follow good procedures with holding temps on these things....

maybe yours is the same or they had different dates?

I've been watching for a good sale to use the breve creamer coupons and haven't seen anything truly exciting yet Frown

I've had a wonderful couple of weeks at CVS and a great week at Shaws. I was able to stock up on some stuff for hubby while I'm down and out and also was able to get him a $10 gas card and $30 in ECBs for those emergency items we occasionally need when there is no coupon and/or no sale.

Man is it chilly today laugh out loud ! Everything is relative!

I am LOVING this weather. Got some work done in the garden this morning and it really needs this rain! By work, I mean basically just weeding the pathway. If I get the weed guard and rocks down in the middle, I seriously will have no work to do in the garden besides harvesting. I'm thinking I will do it, buy a bench, and just sit and wait for my darn tomatoes to ripen.

Did you see my picture of my morning glory??? I am so darn excited! I planted SO many flowers from seed this year, and they all failed or are doing poorly except for those. Please, no one go on about how they are basically weeds and will grow anywhere- don't take away my joy. Smilie

I didn't actually forget, but after CVS, Shaws, PO, and the gas station, I was ready to go home. So I went, got to RA in Springvale and said "oh poopy terds" I forgot to go to Hannaford...I didn't have time either. It was 1:00 at that point and Ben works today, so I just went on home.

I will prob hit up hannaford when I jump the border and go to kmart. I'm supposed to have training tonight, but Kmart doubles is sounding better than sitting in a room with 20 other people watching boring videos on how to save a life....ZzZZz...wonder if the little girls will behave if I take them to kmart???

OK I am jealous of the morning glory...I havent tried them in years cuz I tried a zillion times at previous home. I will have to try next year. Have you ever looked at davesgarden.com? It is limited on the free part, yes I pay for it. I got hooked 5 years ago when DH was on chemo and I couldnt go to far. If you want to take a better look let me know and I will pm my user name and password. It was a little less then...and people mailed plants to each other. Bulbs too, it was spring and DH got a kick out of our spring Christmas LOL

Thanks for the site info, checking it out now! I am so hooked now it's crazy. I planted the morning glory seeds in window boxes and left them near the garden in the full sun until they were about a foot tall. I moved them over to the shed and thought they would die because it doesn't get much sun- but they have been climbing and growing just fine.
