I made the mistake of giving my son a similar sleeping bear lamp. But if I forget to recharge it before bedtime then he won't go to sleep. The battery only makes it through the night on the lowest brightness, so if he accidently touches it and puts it on high then he'll wake up in a dark room at 4am and begin screaming.
I thought I was being clever when I bought a capybara lamp to use as a backup for those middle of the night tantrums, but pretty soon he just demanded both of them to go to sleep and I realized I'd just doubled my odds of one of them turning off before sunrise. Then the bear broke and I had to add a panda to the menagerie.
Then a deal like this comes along and I say to myself, "f*** it, might as well get this duck too cause it's only a matter of time before another ones breaks". It's an inescapable quagmire, escalating like the US' entanglements in Vietnam.
