I own this and love it. Super easy to clean and no extra filters required. The only down side is that you will get some fine particles in the bottom. I typically use a French press so I don't mind it.

I'd rather use a cheap pour over with paper filter so easier to clean and no particles. Only cost $6 or $7 and not plastic either.

is this an alternative approach to standard coffee maker black coffee? i usually have eapresso or latte type beverages and am wondering whether it's a good idea to expand coffee experiences:-)
also does this overlap at all in what it produces with a device like oxo rapid press ?

Yeah it shows up on the weekly basis. Highly suspect.
For camping an Aeropress is more portable and versatile. I have a stainless V60 that does the job also. I'd pass.

Basically what the mug alone goes for, so nice bonus to get the pour over too.

I got the green one previously for like $20, so there have been steeper deals than this one, but still a good price. Solid pour-over coffee maker though, bloom it properly and it tastes great, sediment can be largely solved by grinding your own beans at a pour-over appropriate coarseness, or fitting a tea bag over the steel filter. You may have to assist the drip process with the latter if you want it to still be hot by the end.
