Friend of mine had a workplace where they forced everyone to sit in these awful things.

He exclusively wore tan khakis, which wore thin in the backside every few months. And there was always tan-coloured "dust" under the chair. Guess what? That mesh was like a cheese grater to his pants.

He also hated the transition between "mesh" and plastic frame. He compared it to sitting off the edge of a hammock made with a 2x4 frame. You're always are going to feel that sharp edge cutting into you.

I sat in these chairs occasionally, depending on which client site I went to. And although they ARE sturdy and they DO have many adjustments, you can't get over the absolute lack of comfort they provide. I'd rather sit on a hardwood, unpadded dining room chair from the 70s than that thing. At least the dining room chair was designed with humans in mind, not mindless corpo-drones.

But I also will admit, a LOT of people love these chairs with a passion. So you might totally disagree with the above. Try them out first, if you can.
We must bet sitting in different chairs. I haven't experienced anything remotely like you described (had mine for several years).
It's like sitting on a cloud.

Yeah I'd go so far as to say that you're describing a completely different chair. This thing is absurdly comfy and accommodating for a lot of different heights and sizes. I've used a model B for about 12 years and its still very comfortable and I'd keep it over damn near everything out there.

I almost bought a chair of Madison until I did a bit of digging online. Of course it's hard to know if the customer service problems people describe are common or rare, but it scared me off this vendor.
