How realistic is this? Is the 10mm socket already missing?

Does it include the mechanic makes up a problem to add-on hundreds for a customer who came in for an oil change feature?

Just yesterday I had a guy tell me that if I only change my oil every 6,000 miles (PHEV) that I'll "burn up my engine".

6000 miles may be ok, but in general, oil change intervals are too long. Some brands have 15,000 mile intervals and they definitely have premature engine failures or other related problems (like brake booster systems that use engine vacuum). Most independent shops recommend changes around 5k. It doesn't help that newer vehicles in the US have 0 viscosity oils (unlike the same vehicle in other countries).

Nice thanks. My buddy needs me to work on his actual car, not sure this is going to help with my time, lol.

6,000 miles is more than acceptable for OP since they have a PHEV. Most of the miles will be from the electric motor/battery and not from the internal combustion engine. I also have a PHEV and change every 10,000 mile with Pennzoil Platinum oil and Mobil 1/Purolator Boss filter. My ICE only runs 3,000-,4,000 of the 10,000 miles.
