Would this be a good price pre-bubble?

Well it's sold by Sandisk's official ebay store but it doesn't say.

Hm... I just bought a brand new one for like 265. I'd bite if it were 150 or lower

This is DRAM-less but gets decent reviews. Also 1200TBW is excellent for this size drive. I'm in for one, it's a good enough price given the market.

Anecdotally it seems like deals are starting to pop up every now and then, so if it's not something you need you can probably safely pass. The resale value of this drive is higher than what it is selling for, so it's a pretty safe purchase if you need one.

In 2023 I got the WD 850X 2TB for $110, new. Just mentioning as a reference for the prices before this insanity started

Sure, but that's not terribly useful because it's not 2023 is it?

Unfortunately this market is a mess, and for this market, this is a (relative) deal.

Considering the way prices are I'd say this is a great deal if you can verify who certified it and it's a reliable source. I got a WD black PlayStation branded in February 208$ new Walmart and have seen it listed nearly double since. Im glad I got mine when I did. There's a ton of controversy over memory/ram currently prices may go up , they may go back down soon probably not for a year or 2 but will never go back to where they were 3-4 years ago! At 200$ (100$ 1tb) I'd say your at a safe point.

He is giving us a reference from before the bubble so we can extrapolate what the prices would go to if/when the bubble pops. So yes his comment is useful.

In Feb 2023 I had an order of this 2 TB SN770 for $135 brand new. So honestly, $200 isn't terrible

Prices on SSDs are coming down somewhat after their peak around February/March of this year. If you don't need something now, it's likely prices will be lower in the coming months (but not to back to where they were 1 year ago). There are, however, indications that high costs will continue through at least 2027.

Pre-bubble (about 9 months ago) these were about $120 new.

Happy I stocked up at the end of 2025 before the pricing apocalypse so I have a drawer full of 2TB and 4TB ssd's. Listen to the news before listening to people screaming "HOLD". Decent price for current narket for those that need.

Exactly this. Don't buy unless you absolutely have to. IMO the bubble should only be for new drives, where they don't have enough throughput to build consumer drives because they're getting paid more per TB for the enterprise drives. The raised prices for refurbished drives is pure profit and entirely market driven because people will pay these prices as an alternative to the even higher prices for new storage.
