A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

Monkfish 1,116 April 23, 2010 at 07:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Okay, I admit I haven't seen it but I do like Steve Carell and Keira Knightley. Is it worth a redbox rental or just be glad I didn't see it and save 2 hours of my life from being wasted?
Save the two hours, the movie goes absolutely nowhere.

okay, time to go to themoviespoiler.com and read what I've missed. 3 minutes lost is better than 90 minutes.

End of Watch

Another fantastic movie! Grips you from the very beginning and engages you for the whole ride. Gyllenhaal and Peña are perfect and all too believable as the partners in the LAPD assigned to patrol the streets of South Central. ****/*****

Seeking A Friend for the End of the World
I thought it was pretty good. It's a low-key buddy movie. I liked it more than 7 Psychopaths. That was ok too, but to me was more been there, done that.

Mama
Is pretty creepy. I didn't want the woman to look in the closet, so the movie makers must have done something right. And the kid playing tug of war with "someone" off-screen... uh oh.
That reminds me of another one I saw a while back...

The Woman in Black
Starring Daniel Radcliffe. (Harry Potter)
That's pretty creepy too. Both are solid movies too, not just creepy.

Here's a movie people probably haven't heard of. Lower budget, but imo more entertaining than half the big-budget stuff.
Overtime
Two hitmen doing a job turns into two hitmen fighting alien zombies. Lots of zombies, lots of guns, and lots of one-liners.
It won eight awards including Best Picture at the 2011 Fright Night film festival.
It stars Al Snow, so that automatically means it's at least watchable.

Did watch it tonight, I liked it. Kind of a romantic comedy without being too cheeseball or syrupy.
