A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

I haven't seen all the Star Trek movies but thought the last one was pretty good. Sure it's not faithful to the Star Trek story line but it was entertaining, which is more than you can say for some of the older Star Trek movies. Stick Out Tongue

last night i watched The Paperboy and i gotta say it was...interesting. i didn't hate it, but i'm not sure if i actually liked it either. i've never seen Nicole Kidman in that kind of role, except for maybe that Kubrick movie she did with Tom Cruise.

if you've got a free Redbox code and nothing else seems appealing, i suppose this wouldn't be a bad choice LMAO

The Prestige 4.5/5
The Prestige was a little too dark for me. The Illusionist was more my style.

I recently watched "Now You See Me". It was entertaining, but not at all what I expected. The trailers make it seem like it's at least a little bit about technology, which I was looking forward to, but it was all illusion and magic. No technology. That being said, it seemed like a dumbed down Oceans 11.

Finally, someone who remembers the OTHER movie about magic! laugh out loud They both came out at the same time, but for some reason everyone seems to only remember The Prestige. I liked The Illusionist more than The Prestige, but I thought they were both great movies.

I remember it, but outside of Jessica Biel heart that movie just didn't provide enough of "something" to make me remember it or endear to it. I guess the Prestige kept you guessing so much and was so snarling intense that it gets into your head more. Both movies were well acted though and both are well worth the watch.

I remember both of them, just can never remember which is which. I liked the one with Hugh Jackman better.

The Internship

Got tickets to screener. Went in thinking it was going to be average comedy, but I was totally shocked. From start to finish it was hilarious!! I would compare it to "Old School" for techies.

I would give 4/5 stars.

This is probably going to sound like a dumb question....but is there a ton of raunchy stuff in it? I want to take my dad because I think he would like it, but not if it is a horrible movie.

Every trailer I have seen for that movie makes it look ridiculously stupid. I could have gotten screeners for it but didn't want to waste my time. Maybe I will redbox it (not that I don't value your opinion, I just don't trust those two main actors in a movie to be any good (or clean)).

When I got the passes for screener, I checked out the trailer and my thoughts were exactly like yours. I almost decided not go, but I was just sitting at home and decided to go last minute. And I'm glad I did. Movie was surprisingly clean. No nudity in it.

King: A Filmed Record Montgomery to Memphis - Bad soundtrack. Good footage of MLK and the times but it's unnarrated.

Beautiful Creatures - Unwatchable. Almost nothing I can't or wont sit through. Avoid.

Crush - A lot of missed potential. Stalker gets stalked. laugh out loud Not a terrible ending.
