"Accessory not supported" when iPhone 4 plugged into Bose SoundDock

Ram|bunc|tious 24,599 1,944 January 18, 2011 at 07:54 PM
My iPhone 4 started giving me an error "accessory not supported" and blinks rapidly when plugged into the SoundDock. I have only had the SoundDock for ~3 weeks (Christmas present) and it worked perfectly until 2 days ago. I have cleaned the connections and restored my iPods operating system to no avail. I logged a call with Bose. Any other suggestions?

I think this is 'normal' for Apple stuff. Tomorrow it will do something totally different. Report back Big Grin

Really strange behavior ... I thought it was software related on the iPhone or maybe a bent pin, but it charges & syncs just fine with my PC, works in a Logitech speaker at work. Dontknow

all tech support threads will now be answered with possibly random and false information.
This is due to the retardedness of posters and answering posters in general.
thank you, have a nice day.

Steve Gibson on password policies [grc.com]: I mean, I don't get this change it every eight weeks. ... It's not as if passwords are traveling by camel after they've been stolen, going to the bad guys, and so there's, like, some weird eight-week window, like, oh, we're going to change your password so that the stale password no longer works. ... And all this does is make IT people despised because users, who are not dumb, they think, why am I - why do I have to do this? What problem is this solving?

I've found some devices are better than others. I have an iSimple iPod/iPhone interface for my car stereo that worked great for controlling the iPhone from the car stereo, until iOS 4. After that I had to flip some switches to get it to basically just be a dumb pipe for audio from my iPhone. It won't even charge the phone anymore, unless I buy a $30 adapter that they say is necessary for something Apple changed in iOS4. Annoyed However, my iHome alarm clock still charges and completely controls my iPhone, even after the iPhone 4 upgrade. All I had to do was get a plastic dock adapter from Apple. Mad $10 for 3 adapters when I only needed one.

Still working (and sounds GREAT! ... loads better than my old Logitech SoundDock).

Took Bose over a week to send me a form-letter emailed response to my customer support query. That's disappointingly shitty.
