tl;dr: I'm scared of driving in the snow. Many people I know lately have been in accidents, and it wasn't even due to weather.

Where do you live? I'm guessing someplace that does not see snow much.

Kentucky. We don't usually get much snow in December, but this December we got a ton of it! We like to close schools when there are just a couple inches of snow, and then people up North think it's funny.

So... I think we get a lot of snow, but I know it's not much compared to other places...

I think we have 5 or 6 inches here from yesterday. And supposedly another inch both today and tomorrow. How did you fare further south Mich? I got some lake effect according to the weatherman.

That sounds a bit scary (very scary???)... Will you be able to keep your job there somehow?

I honestly have no idea what it means for me. It sounds like nothing is going to change for us for now, but this really hit us by surprise. Since they're breaking things up it could be good for me, but who knows.

Still stuffy. I'm seriously considering going out and buying a small humidifier just for the bedroom. This house is so dry.
We got a whole house humidifier installed a few years ago and I noticed that DW wasn't getting as many colds and whatnot. It definitely has helped. But one in your bedroom will probably do some good too.

We had a HVAC guy out over the summer for the AC. We asked about a whole house humifier and were told that due to the location of the furnace it would be next to impossible without moving a wall.

Oh I'm definitely not. It was just a huge surprise when I got to work this morning. We have a meeting at 1:30 to discuss what my management chain knows at this point. I'm just curious how it's all going to work, but I'm sure those questions will get answered in the coming months.

Not only is it load bearing the laundry tub, washer and dryer are in line with it. If we moved the wall for a humidifer we would have to get rid of at least one but more likely all three of those.

What good are a washer and dryer anyway? laugh out loud

You could go completely redneck and cut a hole in the wall for the humidifier. laugh out loud

Sad thing is that the furnace is on an interior wall. It's in a tiny closet bounded by the chimney, the living room, the ductwork for the heat and A/C and the laundry room. Combined with it's a load bearing wall and a vaulted ceilings it's a nightmare.

T minus 25 and counting. Seems odd they waited until 1:30 to have a meeting. IMHO this should have been first thing this morning.
