This is also eligible for a 12% AT&T Discount. Follow this link for AT&T Deal. Credit linkin06.
Step by Step Instructions:
- Sign up for Facebook's messaging service . Note that they are slowly rolling this service out so if you do not have a @facebook email you can opt in for the service, in which after some time your request will be processed (some are receiving immediately while others have to wait a week or more). Eventually this service is supposed to roll out to all Facebook users. This is where YMMV, but once you have a @facebook email everything else should work out.
- Go into your privacy settings, then click View Settings for Connecting on Facebook. From there set "Send you messages" to everyone. You can change it back afterwards.
- Once you obtain your @facebook email address, enter it here .
- Check your message inbox on facebook (Make sure to check the Other section and Junk Section which is at the bottom of the page when looking at Other).
I understand many of you get better discounts through your employer, but for this is for those of you who may not be eligible through other means. Also this is only confirmed to work for wireless service, not sure if it works for anything else.
"How do I set up a free @facebook.com email address? (Note that this step appears to be after you request an invite and receive one from Facebook)
To set up a free @facebook.com address, go to your Messages view and click the "Claim your Facebook email" link.Does this stack with my current employee discount?
Your email address will match your public username, for example:
If you don't have a username yet, you can choose one when you create your email address.
Once you set up your email address, people can email you using any traditional email system (e.g., Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail), and the emails will be delivered to your Facebook Messages. When you send messages to external email addresses, the emails will be formatted to look like Facebook messages, including your name, your profile picture and your message."
Nope, if you have a better current employee discount, this is not for you. Will we get in trouble for doing this?
I am not sure if VZW and AT&T's intention was to give this discount to all Facebook members. There is a chance that they will catch on, but the worst that I foresee is them removing the discount. All we did was check for a Facebook discount and our email happened to be eligible and we are all members of Facebook. No one created a fake facebook email to take advantage of this discount.
There is a list here, people may wanna check
per the AT&T thread's wiki:
For those who don't read the fine print...
FAN discount will automatically add a 2-year contract to your line on-top of your wireless account. Early termination fees apply.
On 2/17/2011 I received a letter from Verizon asking that I fax them either:
a. Employee ID
b. Recent pay stub
They stated in the letter that the documentation had to be clear and that upon verification they would add the discount within a few weeks. Worth noting that the discount of 13% displayed immediately on my Verizon account when I initially applied for the discount (and it still remains there). I assume at some point these discounts may be taken away if verification is not returned.
