Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

Went to P tonight (for my first real shopping trip since Jan 18 EEK! ) and was talking to one of the cashiers. Some couponer was in today and offering up her "couponing class" for $35. Thirty five dollars? Whaaaaaat?

She then showed off her mad skillz by taking her total from $80 down to $35.

Seriously? With this kind of week, that's the best she can do? Maybe I need to take her class.... Harhar

She also apparently offers "personal shopping"...she'll buy your stuff for you...
Not with those skillz, she won't laugh out loud

Reps are back...for now. Stick Out Tongue I owe loads of gratitude to everyone that got me where I am! Read the *NEW* CVS FAQ and post your questions there. Let's keep the deal threads deal-related, please.
Would it kill you to read the wiki? Or to read the thread? All the experts got to where they are by reading...you can too.

If her savings were about $80 to start because of BOGO and she then dropped it to $35 through coupons for a total savings of $125, then I don't find it so bad. (Looks sort of like mine - blushing smilie goes here but I can't find it on phone). All you ladies and gents on this thread are pretty extraordinary and not really in the league of other mortals Smilie

My baby is a bad sleeper - I can't believe it has taken me this longto realize that this time is perfect to catch up on threads. Yes, I'm pretty desperately searching for a silver lining.

remember Rydergal and I have half-priced BOGOs, so it's just half price... nothing true Buy One, Get One Free unless you have a BOGO Q.

Ryder, you have a cape (per the post above)? You must keep it somewhere hidden, as I didn't see it when we met laugh out loud

So am I being too hard on her? When the cashier told me she was selling classes for $35, pretty much anything else she said about her would have made me annoyed, so I guess that tainted my viewpoint.

Having the WD $5/$30...and being able to get them pretty cheap from ETC...well, I kinda think any halfway decent couponer around here should have some, since there's a P across the street from every WD. I'd never have an $80 transaction to begin with. I did 3 transactions last night, so that's $90ish. Paid $1.50, $6, and $7. So I took $90 down to $14.50. It just seems to me that if you are going to sell your class (your way overpriced class...I thought $10 or $20 was the going rate, but then again, I don't shop for Q classes, so I could be out of the loop laugh out loud ), you need to do something amazing to demonstrate your abilities.

According to the cashier, she's from Tuscaloosa...not sure why she was in town, if just for drumming up business, or if she happened to be here for other reasons, but I just get annoyed every time they tell me another couponer has been in and is trying to "sell" them something...coupon classes, personal shopping, ETC Q's, etc.

And it is true that I did not see her transaction...maybe it was amazing after all. Perhaps she had a bunch of meat or produce or other items that don't have Q's. Or maybe I'm just a grouchy you-know-what that doesn't like to hear about other couponers in her store LMAO

I must be dealing with the 3 stooges car dealership.

I want a select color Corolla LE and add fog lights. Dealership demanded a $500 check to go get the car (not on their lot), so I drove the 20 miles up there just to give them a check...was on the 13th I think. I told them three weeks ago I was out of town last week (I was) and I'd be picking it up today. I needed the VIN number to finish the insurance info. So I emailed them yesterday. They sent that, and then said I'd have to arrange to have the fog lights put in?

What? I'm paying for a car with fog lights. I'm not planning on bringing one home without them. I'm single and I have to arrange with friends to get to work with no car, then have another friend that lives north of here drop me at the dealership. That coordination has already been done. I don't want to have to go back to the dealership to have the fog lights put in (2 day process). Per an email from the dealership, they've had the car since the 15th. Why didn't they go ahead and put the fog lights in?

I don't know what to do today... ride into work with my coordinated ride, ride to the dealership with my other coordinated ride and have the dealership bring me home (no car), take the new car that I have to bring back to the dealership and leave for fog light insertion or just call off my coordination for today and drive like normal or pick the car up when it's ready (with the fog lights).

What should I do? My ride will be here within the hour.
I wouldn't take it either until it was like I paid for. I bought a new conversion van once and was told to just bring it back in and we will install the VCR. Made an appt. and got there at opening only to sit until 1:00 when I told them I had to leave to pick up my kids from school. They had taken the van down the road to a place called "Rolling Sound" that deals with radio and such installs. When he came back, the VCR was just jammed in a cabinet with a door by the TV instead of the cutout made for the VCR. He told me "that was the best they could do". I think that is what "he" did because the install place had not got to it yet. I came home and within 30 minutes had it where it belonged. This same salesman also told me to take the van home, look it over and if I found any paint dings or imperfections to bring it back and they would fix it. I did and they looked at me like I was crazy and asked "who told you that"?? So if they make you any promises, get it in writing.

Score one for me (today, anyway, lol):

Dear Mrs. R,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We regret that we have failed to meet your expectations. We would never knowingly disappoint our customers. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us to rectify the situation.

Your concern was forwarded to the store manager. Stores do not have the ability to email externally, however below is the response from your store manager.
Can you please email Mrs. R and let her know I apologize for the way that the situation was handled. There are some circumstances where a customer may get money back. Yxxx is not a manager and is new to our location. She does help run the front end from time to time. We will definitely get with her and address the customer's concerns. Please let Mrs. R know she can talk to a manager at any time if she has a concern for anything. It is rare if a customer gets money back but it can happen and we will gladly take her coupons.. Please have her speak with me the next time she is in so I can meet her.
Thank you,
Xxxxx Xxxxx

Just checking in with y'all...baby is a bit over 2 months now and I can't believe how fast things are moving!

I'm mainly doing a once a week Publix trip to save the time. Having a baby again definitely puts things in perspective and I'm finding myself absolutely wanting to shop less. This upcoming week is an awesome example...nothing too exciting coming up. I figure it'll be a raincheck week! Wink

A blogger in our area posted a store in our area lets them use multiple WD coupons per transaction. I questioned that and was told some stores allow it and I should just ask my manager if they allowed it. I was told I would be surprised what a few kind words would get you. Now I am not the talkative type and would never ask a store to go against policy, but I would expect to be treated like any other shopper. (Not saying I am not a nice person, I am a shy person and find it hard to just go up and talk) Embarrassment I normally just break my orders up and move on to another store and may even stop back by the same one.
One reason I questioned it was because at one store, they said CC policy was about to change because of people taking advantage of it. But yet at another store, I had separate orders because I was picking up some things for my daughter. The cashier told me if I had it separated just so I could use another WD coupon that she could combine them. So now we are back to confusion again on policy. Wasn't this the whole reason a policy was made?
Is it wrong to just want the stores to follow their own policy? So we know what to expect at any Publix. This blogger also says when they have large orders they also ask for a separate lane be opened for them. If your on this forum wave Nothing against this person, they are only doing what they are allowed. But what do y'all think about it?

Right after the policy came out, I asked my store about it, and was told that I needed to break up my transactions, so I've always done that. Sure, doing it all at once would be easier, and probably save me from a filler here and there since sometimes you can't break $60 into $30 and $30 exactly, but all in all, it's not terrible. I just stick to that method because I think any answer you get is going to be YMMV based on who you ask...I've had a couple of cashiers tell me I can just put the orders together and use 2 as long as I have $60, but I have other cashiers give off "bad coupon vibes" and I just don't want to chance not getting the cashier I want for whatever reason and being denied at the register and having to go back and break it down...so I just go ahead and break it down.

If the store allows it, great...but like you, I'm a bit shy and don't generally ask about things that could potentially be seen as going against policy, so I just keep my head down and follow policy as best I can.

As much as 'coupon policy is supposed to be policy' it seems some stores aren't all uniformly enforcing it. I was going along with the wording on the coupon, multiple stores because one time one cashier told me one thing, then later on I found out it was fine as long as transactions were separated. Sigh. If I'd known that before I'd checked out likely I'd try to alter my order to use another $5 coupon. Sometimes it's all in who you talk to...they all seem to say something different!

Ooooooh, TN...she might end up with 4 boys!

On another note, the cashier this morning told my husband that the green and (non) yellow flyer would be going away and that all Publix coupons would be electronic...but the website printed on the card is the one for the dQ which seem to be all MQshake head. I guess that everything is going towards targeted marketing and I hate wasting so much paper to use the PQ, but I really like that I can buy what I need (which is generally more than 1).

Heads up for my Publix Peeps that were going to do the P&G rebate. They just posted this on their FB page.

Procter & Gamble Hello - We appreciate your patience while we were researching the issue. Multiple receipts are allowed and our promotion's team has been notified to update the rebate forms. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.
