Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

Since I've never won anything, why can't you sell them if they say comp? look around
FL has anti-scalping laws. You can't legally sell them for more than face value. In this case, that's $0.00 LMAO

WHERE ARE YOU? If you only post "I WENT TO MY LOCAL STORE and..." and you do not indicate the city/location of that store and your location is not in your profile so that it displays under your screen name, your post IS NOT HELPFUL at all. SO, PLEASE IDENTIFY YOUR LOCATION! Or take your post off to the appropriate blog. Thank You.

First furlough day Sadwalk Where's my other Gov't buddy Hawkeye?

Yawn I didn't sleep well last night and got up at 5 to clean some before the roof inspector got here.

Yawn I want to take a nap, but know if I do take a nap, I won't sleep tonight. I've got a roofer coming by at 6pm tonight (he's already been on the roof, but hasn't seen the leak damage inside the house).

At least the inspector approved a new roof due to hail damage. Now I wait for the check and add $$ to that to have it re-roofed (due to the insurance deductible).

c4, I noticed one station that Wed-Thursday jump in price was 19¢ a gallon.

I thought I was gonna be building an ark on the 4th, as the neighbor up the street measured over 9"+ of rain in 2 days. And then it's rained just about every day since then.

The shingles on the front eaves (where it leaked here in the office) got torn off in a storm on the 16th of June.

Bean you have a precious puppy! What's a ChiWeenie?

Haha, I thought we might need an ark a few days ago--tons of non-stop rain! Stinks your roof got injured, but I guess now is a good time for new roof with all this dang rain. We replaced ours in March and I'm glad because the old one would not have made it LMAO

We got Molly from the SPCA and she's a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. We also have a big blonde Chihuahua named Yogi. heart

Been around town hitting the Chick-Fil-As. Today is Cow Appreciation Day and when you dress up head to hoof as a cow, you get a FREE meal (dress up partially and get the entree FREE). I've done it about 4 years running now. My oldest DS started 2 yrs ago with me. I dress up in a black shirt and black jeans, cut out spot shapes from white copy paper (from my recycling pile) and tape them on. I add on a black hat with some white spots and a pair of ears hanging from the sides and voila! I'm a cow. LOL

Ended up sleeping in a bit this AM, the first furlough day of 11, until 7am so I didn't get out to my first CFA until after 9AM. Had one breakfast and thereafter have hit 5 more stores (the last one being the store I had bfast in at 930AM) with a two-hour break mixed in when I cam back to the apartment to get some exercise in.

My command is really taking furlough and sequestration tight. I've been denied travel comp time for the drive to Tampa last Sunday. OK, they want to save some lodging and meals costs - even though we're starting at 8AM. They also denied travel comp for an early Monday drive instead ordering me to take it as part of the work day (shortening our test day of 8A-6P by 2hr). Ditto for the return Thursday, it has to be during work hours. So my test week is shortened down to 3 1/2 days! Overtime was denied too so at least when we "fail" we know who to blame it on. SECDEF made furloughs across all the services so that the Army wouldn't have to go it alone, but since the Navy found the funds it's amazing they won't keep any sanity in what they approve. When the talk of this started in Feb we all figured it was best to show how painful it would be so Congress might do something to fix this ... but then the Command and Union negotiated furlough time to be entirely flexible instead of every Friday off - which allowed programs to be creative to meet their missions. Now this. Talk about conflicting direction!!

So the OT would have helped make back some of the 8hr/week I lost. Not allowing Sunday travel really hurts as I don't like getting up early and driving to Tampa at 630AM. My oldest and me didn't get on the road until 7AM last Monday morning. It worked out ok as he ended up being made an unpaid intern partnering with me for the physical configuration audit. This coming week's trip to Tampa I have to bring the 2 younger children (it's my week of the alternating summer vacation schedule and their mom is going on a vacation) and instead of going Sunday and getting them situated in the hotel so I can just go into work Monday, I'll have to bring them along with me to testing. They'll have to sit around and play with their iPod/iPad until after hotel check in time since I can't drop them at the hotel at 8-9AM.

Ok, I've grumbled enough ... time to think about more CFAs!!! LOL

Oh yeah, sorry, forgot that dollar!! It cost him more than that to drive up to Tampa & back to pick up the tickets, lol.

I had to get one of those on my last car about 10 years ago. I went out to go to work one day and it was empty, empty, empty. I had just filled up 2 days prior.

The command I work for (note that they're are lots of commands on the base and Nasa doesn't have furlough from what I'm told) made a ruling for fridays off, including contractors, but apparently the contractors didn't figure out they needed 10 hour days until Wed (or at least, that was traffic jam 1 of the week). Main gate is a divided hwy, that either dumps you off on the interstate, or if you don't turn, your headed to the Army Base/Nasa. It's 2 1/2 miles from the entrance gate to Hwy 72 (back towards the north, and that's north of the interstate). Wed folks started slowing down approx 4 miles before the gate (and folks couldn't get to Hwy 72 or the interstate, as they were stuck in traffic if they didn't want to go to the base).

Thursday was about as bad, but it started earlier than Wednesday.

Friday is furlough day, so they shut down the gate on the West side and the farthest southern gate on the east side, and one other gate didn't open until 9:30 (not useful for work purposes that late). So the West folks now ALL had to come in off the side of the main gate. Even the interstate this time was a parking lot for over an hour. Glad I wasn't there (I was entertaining roofers and inspectors at that time).

We've been told if you are in a meeting and your 8 hrs is up for the day, get up and walk out of the meeting. Right... I don't see that as being a great career move. You also aren't allowed to use your gov't cell phone or gov't laptop on Friday.
