Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

I guess I never should have given my store credit for the ad. Sadwalk

What's next, my "cheap" (Walmart priced) Publix will have to revert to pricing everything at the advertised sale ad price because someone complains their store won't compete price-wise with other stores across the street from their Publix? Geez. Whoever it was needs to get a life. Living in FL, where our ads start on Thursday, I already get the ad a day earlier since it comes in the Wednesday newspaper (online here doesn't show til Thursday). Having it posted here on Monday just gives me more time to contemplate what I might purchase. Wednesday at lunch is my time to create my "cheat sheet" of sale items at Publix, Albertson's, Winn Dixie, and Aldi ... plus Save-A-Lot update every other week or so ... then Thursday at lunch I add on the sale items from Sedano's and Bravo. Depending on whether I got the "cheap" pricing comparison from the ad Wed night or Thu night, I'll complete my list by Friday morning and e-mail it to about 20 people at work and a few others locally.

Sorry you were basically singled out TN. Hopefully they quickly come to realize the mistake they're making - not just for those in your local area but the extended ramifications for all of the southeast for which you provide this service. I can't think of a better ambassador for Publix than you (and the rest of this thread's contributors)!

I had a nice chat back and forth with a Publix FB rep (who is also an SD'er, though not a DS shopper...FP voyeur Wink ).

My concerns were forwarded on to someone at Corporate, who called me on Thursday. We had a lovely conversation where I voiced my concern first over being called "intentional and purposeful" misusers, and sundry other topics related to the issue that was at hand...namely, the gas card coupon. Brent told me it was indeed Publix's intent that the Gas Card counts as a $/$$ coupon, and that no competitor $/$$ should be used on that $50 grocery purchase. However, he also said that Corporate is aware that some stores have different interpretations or are more lenient than others, and THAT IS OK. No one who spent $50 and used a competitor $/$$ was in trouble, nor did Publix view them as scammers out to undermine the very fabric of our being. He did say they are working on making sure stores understand the purchase requirements, but that again, some stores will be more open than others.

I also gave him the Unilever $3/$15 example that MsA brought up, and after me repeating it a couple of times, you could tell he had an AHA! moment...he got what I was saying and saw how it can be construed as the same thing as the gas card Q (even though that is NOT the intent). My suggestion was that they need to reword the gas card to be "$10 off $50 in groceries wyb a $50 gas card"...he said he would forward it along to marketing along with the Unilever Q example, so they could see what the consumers are seeing.

OMG, after all that, yeah it sucks that we have to purchase $80 to use a $5/$30, but is it the end of the world? I think not...

On a totally different and irrelevant note....

You know the whole 6 degrees of separation thing?

So, I'm bored and browsing FB. A friend of mine has a production company with a partner. I clicked on the partner's FB page just because it said we had 3 FB friends in common (and I was all curious who they were).

So, her page is really cute. She's really into Pugs, Pug rescue, etc. I'm scrolling through her news feed, pug pics, pug pics, pug pics, pug pics, show more stories, pug pics, pug pics, In a Relationship with - my exbf of 7 years! Ha!

Talk about a small world. I've been in this town since 1976 (minus 2 years stationed in NJ), broke up with him in 1995 and have only seen him once (in about 2002).

I feel bad for her - unless she has no intentions of ever getting married or having children - then she's golden.

Yeah your first stalker will make you scrub all personal info from the web.

I think some share too much without realizing how crazy some people can be on the web, you just cannot fathom their thought process.

I learned my lesson early on before slickdeals, there are some crazy people out there and you can never undo lack of privacy. This is why facebook is such a horrible idea.

from the weekly ad: 7-Up, A&W, Diet Rite or RC Cola, 2L bottle, save up to 1.79

Anyone know if the TENs are included in this (7-Up Ten, A&W Ten, etc)? Spring Flavor saver had a $.75/1 MQ... (ETA: Nevermind on the Ten varieties as they contain high fructose corn syrup, so I'm out.

The $.55/2 diet MQ in the same flyer works for this deal. Cheap mixers Cheers 62¢ 2L works for me. Aspartame is OK laugh out loud

I've been carrying some sort of coupon for the TEN for the last time these went on sale. My store, apparently, doesn't stock the TEN. Which is strange, 'cause even my CVS have it.

It is "no Easter Bunny photos" worthy. 5-year old doesn't look too bad, she has, um long layers now. The 2-year old cut off some curls and cut her bangs on 1 side to about 1/2" (almost a bald spot).

This is the 2nd time the 2-yr old has done it & the 4th or 5th time the 5-year old has done it (starting when she was about 2.5).

The scissors are in my desk drawer - which is (supposed to be) a no-go zone for them.

The scissors are now in my bedroom, on top of the armoire - which is going to make my life miserable.

Don't you know that's why Easter Hats are popular with kids?
