Tooling around with electronics isn't as popular a hobby as it used to be, say 30 years ago.
As far as online I have had great luck with digi-key being very fast even with standard shipping.
mouser.com
digikey.com
farnell.com
Try Digikey.com. They're often cheaper than Farnell (Newark) and stock more varieties too.

Ask students studying electronics at local colleges, DeVry, ITT Tech, etc., or ham radio operators. Also the paper version of the Yellow Pages can be a lot better than online directories, but you may have to phone almost every listing to find sources. There may be 1-2 electronics supplies still hanging on until the owners sell their property for retirement.
Check NTE for dealers in your area. NTE sells substitute semiconductors.
Some mail order dealers don't charge much for shipping, and their prices can be low enough that you'll end up paying less, even on a small order.
Have you tried:
All Electronics
Marlin P. Jones
JDR Microdevices
Jameco
B & D Enterprises
Circuit Specialists
Electronics Gold Mine

it's kind of hard to beat a penny...for light parts like those, the shipping is even lower
than US shops & I usually get my order within 2-3 weeks
damn, where did all those mom & pop electronic shops go....
