Top Shot season 5 started last night....any watchers in here? It is a "best of" which I assume means they brought back competitors from the past? Haven't watched it yet (no spoilers pls Mad) but I plan to watch it this evening.

So I have a friend in law enforcement and apparently she can get me a discount! I will probably go shoot with her soon, but wanted to get y'alls opinion. She has a Glock .40, but said her ex had a 9mm he loved. She also mentioned... Ummm... I think the G27 would be good for C&C if I want to go that route. I have never owned a handgun, but shot before. I only own a shot gun now. I guess it would be mainly for protection and fun.

Also what would be a good "discount"?

I would opt for a 9mm just for the cost of ammo (if this craze ever ends). When I can legally carry, I will be getting a single stack 9mm like a kahr cm9 [kahr.com] or beretta nano [berettausa.com].

However for general home protection glocks are good solid guns. I don't like shooting them as much as some other guns but they do the job.

i picked up my FDE gen 3 G26 for $550 a couple months ago.. i'm not sure what the standard price on the gen 4's are though.. if you buy a gen 3 make sure it comes with 2 magazines, gen 4's come with 3 magazines and the back straps to the handle.. some dealers have been taking out the extra mag's so they can sell them individually and make a few more $$$.. if you see a dealer that does that email glock and they will lose their glock dealer status.. i went with 9 so i wouldnt have to deal with the recoil of a .40 in a small gun.. all my full size pistols are .40/.357 sig..

I know some people will say otherwise, but I would find it pretty tough to conceal a G26 or G27. I could probably conceal it, but it certainly wouldn't be comfortable.

I am not a fan of dual-purpose guns. I would rather have a full-sized Glock for target shooting or a night stand gun, and have a pocket gun (nano, shield, pf9, etc) as a carry gun. If you pick one firearm for both target/home defense and CCW, you will always make a compromise somewhere.

are you on the skinny side of the gamer scale? i'm on the rounder side and its pretty easy to hide the g26.. i bought one of those MIC holsters and just tie the rope to a belt loop or belt and then tuck it in my waistband and its great.. it shifts around with me and is easy to adjust..

Alas, I am on the rounder side. I hope to be on the skinny side in a few more months. I have seen those holsters but for some reason I just can't trust them. Wouldn't the firearm fall out if the rope was just dangling from the belt or belt loop?

its really tight.. you should play with one if you get a chance one day.. the i think colion nior has a video where he shows it dangling by the string.. he also has one tied to the seat post in his car so he can tuck it between the seat and the center consol

I got to shoot a desert eagle .50 ae over the weekend.. it doesnt kick nearly as much as i thought it would.. the trigger pull is smooth and even, and the balance is pretty good. i could probably buy it from the guy for $1500 but i dont really have use for it..

Yeah, the DE's are pretty nice shooting guns. The weight in the front end really helps the kick. I've got one of the older ones, Mark IX I think?

So let's say someone has a nice AR lower...what would be the cheapest place to buy the rest of the parts? Not looking for amazing accuracy, just basic stuff.

A local place has a LPK (no stock) for $80, it is PSA...is that a good deal?
