On the outskirts of a lively city lay a peaceful, yet gracefully aged retirement community tucked away from the commotion the city was known for. Its residents were a unique blend of personalities and characteristics, and each contributed a great deal of time and hard work to ensure their community remained serene.
As the sun fades away and the darkness begins to consume the light, this peaceful community becomes a place of terror. Residents scramble inside their homes, the streets soon become desolate, and everything becomes silent. In the distance you can hear the sound of a tea kettle whistling as if it was a warning of impending doom. The wind begins to gently blow and the mild air now becomes brisk. Leaves fall from the tree and begin to dance through the quiet street. The feeling suddenly becomes frightening as you sense that you are not alone.
As you begin to doubt what you feel, what you've been told, you hear a quiet cough coming from the grove of large oak trees a few feet away, Your heart begins to race and you panic. As you search for a way out you can hear the sounds of footsteps seemingly following the same direction. You walk faster and take longer strides, but the noise continues to grow. The sound of a whisper follows and you turn around but no one is there. The streets are still empty and the residents are still inside.
"Calm down, you're just making yourself paranoid. There's nothing out here" you repeat over and over for reassurance. As you begin to make your way to the entrance the whisper returns. The voice is harsh and unclear. "Who... who is out there?!" you yell as your voice echoes into the distance. You stand for a few seconds trembling as you wait for an answer but the silence continues. Again you start walking towards the gate to escape this odd sense of danger that overwhelms you. Your pace quickens, your fists begin to tighten, and again you hear the footsteps of another. The raspy, unclear whisper returns and again you yell "WHO IS OUT THERE?! Show yourself!" A man clears his throat and replies "I am the one to fear, the one everyone is talking about..." You ask the voice to offer some clarity and to again show himself.
An older gentlemen steps out from the woods surrounding the community. He begins to approach you and you become scared. You talk yourself into staying to hear his story. The man appears to very kind and innocent so you begin to relax. "Why are you doing this?" you ask calmly. The man moves closer and with extreme confidence he looks into your eyes. Feeling uncomfortable you begin to look around. "I asked you why are you doing this? What have these people done to you?" The man clears his throat and says
