Deal Details

This is an awesome deal for the complete timing belt package replacement (belts and water pump included) for Honda's and Acuras @ Hamilton Honda NJ. Total price is $389 + tax, Tensioner is $75 to $85 extra if needed. This deal is for anyone within driving distance of Hamilton Honda (I have heard folks drive from as far as Connecticut and Delaware to get this deal). Also good on Acuras.Look at what the Acura guys have to say here [acurazine.com].

MAKE THIS DEAL EVEN SLICKER. ASK FOR FREE WIPER BLADE REPLACEMENT (along with the FREE OIL CHANGE AND CAR WASH) IF YOU ARE A FIRST TIME VISITOR.

My other local dealer (who is closer to my house) wanted to charge me $799 for the same deal.

They had this deal last year too. Their regular price is $489 which is still very good. The $389 special ends on April 30th so hurry.

Please - those who want to tc indicating it is not a national deal can move on. I am only trying to help those who can avail of this deal.

I have talked to Sal @ Hamilton Honda and have my appointment for my 03 Odyssey timing belt replacement for tomorrow.

This shop must have good techs. Because to be honest if you know what you're doing you can FLY through this job on any Honda.

So they probably can bang these out in a few hours - and obviously getting the parts at cost makes it a great deal for them. Plus when they have your car in their hands - they get to find other things wrong with it and attempt to squeeze more from your wallet..

Is it what you call a good deal?! C'mon, guys (if you are still guys not gals) - a timing belt costs about $10-$20, plus about $10 for both front oil seals - and your hands and brains came free from God! And the joy of doing something productive yourself!

Yes just try to get the parts and you will find that a complete timing kit with water pump costs close to $200. If it is Genuine Honda parts then it is close to $300. These are parts alone not to mention the tool list (as mentioned in the post above). Please go and tc somewhere else.

This deal has been around for a while. I had this done a few months back for my Odyssey. They always have this offer in the paper even though when I went in the guy said it's a limited time offer.

Of course the catch here is that they always find something else that could be done...so in the end I spent close to $800...

last summer when I got my timing belt changed, i called all dealers within 50 mile radius and got quote from $500 even to $750 something... for the price of gas and terrible traffic & tolls, i would skip this if my local dealer matched within $100 or so.

Tools List
................
- Crankshaft Pulley Holding Tool
This is called SCREWDRIVER Flat Head! Smilie All these tools a real guy should have owned by now Smilie And the so-called "Parts List" has nothing to do with this job, especially Water Pump stuff.
P. S. In your balance sheet you forgot to include Joy of Doing Something Useful Yourself - priceless.

Be award . $389 might only include Labor or Parts only. Make sure you ask when you call. It might also restricted to 4 cylinders engine with Single-Cam only.

In your "joy of doing something useful yourself" you forgot the price of half-disassembled car blocking your driveway, multiple trips to parts store for parts/tools, and tow truck fee, not to mention any potential damage from doing it wrong.

The crankshaft pulley may require 200+ft-lbs of torque to be attached; and breaking the factory original bolt may require 2-10x that amount of initial impact.
Thus the 5' steel pipe in addition to the 18" steel pipe for breaker bars.

Google "can't get crankshaft pulley off" and witness the frustration that is required for this job.

Having or not having a Screwdriver is not the crux of this job.

Timing belt is not a beginner's procedure. 3.5/5 wrenches at least!

if you are able to run your tank low by the time you get to jersey, you can save another 10 dollars just by filling up in NJ too
