That's the version that mine shows. Did you wipe cache and davlik cache. Have not had wifi problems just set to keep wifi on in settings. Now set to keep wifi on when screen on working phenomenally. Could check here [google.com] for your particular wifi issue. Going back to webos is a drag hope the latest update really snaps it up when tried.
Reinstall worked, but I'm still seeing the SoD issue when I left it plugged in overnight.

Really wish that the android marketplace would remember all your apps and not just the ones you bought!

Also for those that like games the Angry Birds original game and rio game are 100% free on the android marketplace.

Thanks. I realized that once I woke up today and saw 10 more patches in Preware, nothing of use but I got the jist. I guess I didn't realize the patches wouldn't be listed after the update, I figured I would still be able to see them just not install them. It's all good, don't want to rush those webos internals guys, it's not like they are getting paid to do any of this.
You're not doing it right! Whistling

I forget where it is, but one of the installed apps (Govnah, Preware, etc) has a link that you can send a token of your appreciation (i.e. $5 or whatever you feel comfortable through PayPal) to support development efforts nod

The uber kernel doesn't actually overclock the processor.
It only removes a governor that underclocks it to 1.2.
It's the very same processor as HP was putting into the 64 gig model, that runs at 1.5. (no governor)
Amazingly, all the experts say that running your Touchpad at 1.5 has no effect on battery life, and being curious as I am, I tested that theory to see if it was true and could not find an iota of battery consumption difference between running it at 1.2 or 1.5.
I think that if you try it, you'll like it.
You're not doing it any harm, since 1.5 is its native frequency, but you will benefit from the extra speed.
HoneyComb wont happen on the Touchpad but Ice Cream Sandwich will and this is what you want. HC was flawed, google even admits this and this is why they never released the source code to the public. It was also forked bad. ICS brings everything together and supports phones and tablets in one. Cyanogen mod who is currently supporting gingerbread on the touchpad said they would build a version of ICS when the source code is released. It is expected to be here in about a month. So by year end you might hear some new, and I would expect by Valentines Day or so to havea version running onthe touchpad, hopefully sooner.

You're right.
These guys have worked their butts off to give us wonderful things like the uber kernel, the additional launch tabs, performance enhancers (no, not viagra), etc. truly deserve a few bux from those of us who benefit so much from it all.

Guys & Ladies ... to provide some semblance of organization in this thread, I created a new thread intended for Android discussion: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=14128&t=3447614

May I suggest we move Android OS & Marketplace discussions over there and keep this thread simplified for WebOS tips and tricks?

Good idea! We seem to be split in the WebOS/Android crowd. Not to sound condescending, but have fun guys, I'll head over to the new thread.

You condescending SOB! So you're just going to leave the rest of us to discuss topics pertaining to the WebOS? Wink

Just made sense, I'll head over to the other thread when a stable Android port/app/OS is available but till then, I'm enjoying my TP on the WebOS nod

If you are doing a set CPU make. Sure the min. Is set for the least at 384. "Titanium Backup" will remember all your apps and restore them.
My problem at moment is charging seems fine was at 97% last nite and charging fine woke up at 75% still charging. Guess this is why I usually jump in at rc1 at the least. Still aside from the cards this alpha is 10x better than 3.0.4
Rsponded in the new touchpad android thread. thks

There are a few other discussions that should be split off from this thread but it is too late for most of them.

For those that will not overclock their Touchpad, the discussion of overclocking takes up a lot of time to get over. There have been a lot of discussion of the Touchstone that does not apply to me and I really doubt it ever will.

I got tired of seeing "new Android alpha" release questions and Android Market questions in this thread. C'mon, you know it was the right thing do to. There will be other Android ports and the thread you linked was a specific flavor. Its not my fault OP and posters in that other thread post the same questions in both threads and didn't bother to move the FAQ.

Hello everyone. I'm a new TouchPad owner here, and a new member of precentral as well Having the TouchPad so far has been a great exerience, but I was a little ticked off that I could not read anything in Vietnamese when I come across websites such as yahoo.vn or vnexpress.net. Even youtube search in Vietnamese do not appear correctly, all I see is square box So I begin to dig around the net and found that HP decide to get rid of Unicode in all their fonts! Luckily I found this Vietnamese website who was very informative on finding how to add Unicode fonts to the TouchPad but was missing key fonts here and there, and applications wasn't working correctly without "stock" fonts. So without further adieu, here are the instructions to adding unicode fonts to your TouchPad! I believe these will only work for non-character asian sites, beside chinese.

1. Make sure your TouchPad has enough battery life, greater than 50%. Plug your TP into your computer or laptop, and set to USB mode.

2. Download this Unicode Fonts, and extract it as is to your TP drive on the computer. Note: Again extract as is directly to the HP TouchPad drive in your computer, not any other folder.

3. Disconnect USB mode by safely remove hardware, but leave the wire still connected. Turn on Developer Mode on your TP, and open WeOSQuickInstall.jar. You should know how to do this already, if not read up on it before proceeding!

4. Click on Tools, then Linux Commandline. Copy this command without quotes "mount -o remount,rw /" and paste to the window that appeared after you click on Linux Commandline, then hit enter on your laptop or pc. Do not do CTRL+V for paste as it will not work, you have to physically right click and select paste!

5. Copy this command without quotes "cp media/internal/HPbackupunicodefonts/*.* usr/share/fonts", and hit enter on your laptop or pc. Again, do not do CTRL+V, as I know a lot of people would love to do just that. Wait a few seconds until it finish and you see two lines displaying "root@........" Then you're done.

6. Remove the usb cord from your TP, clear cache out from your browser on your TouchPad (you should know how to do this already too, if not search here or google ) Reboot your TP completely, not luna restart, but complete restart it.

7. Enjoy

Mod please make this a sticky as I think it's necessary because this took me quite a few days of trial and error to find out what fonts were needed, and to have all games/apps to work! If anyone can, please spread this news out to your fellow friends and websites but please do not take sole credit for it.

Thanks all!

Thanks for the steps to install Unicode fonts. It works well before 3.0.4 update.
After the update one of the big key from the keyboard "ABC" changed to "A[]B[]C[]". When you pressed this key to change the character from "ABC" to "+ =" there is space inserted with "[]" in between. Please kindly help me how to fix it. It's just the display of the keyboard changed from

"ABC" to "A[]B[]C[]"

or

"+[]=[]"

I did re-add the fonts again and I even tried to run the WebOS Doctor to reset it, but the result is the same. Display some strange character for that key. Everything else works fine!
Any help to fix it would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Got a question about Device Info > Default Applications (menu) it says
"Choose the applications to launch when you open the following file types"

Except for .IPK, .JSON and .TXT, I can't select any of the file types to choose another application.
For example, I'd like to try changing opening .m3u from the "Music" app to something like AudiophileHD or one of the other media apps to see if it works.
Also, if 3.0.4 now supports flac and ogg, why aren't .flac and .ogg file types showing up there?

I haven't got a single one that can be changed, not even the three you mentioned.
The help page mentions the ones in black being "adjustable" but I don't have a single one in black.
Do you have some trick to suggest?
