Samsung LED TV turned into red tint

ohmyyikes 869 104 August 27, 2011 at 05:50 PM
I still see the picture view of my tv but theres red tint all over the place. Has my 8 month old LED tv gone bad? I received it as a gift for xmas from my company and I tossed the box and have no receipt. Am I still able to bring it to costco? Anyone know what the issue is and what I can do? Thanks!

What is the input to the TV? If you pull up the TV's own menu of controls, do they also have a red tint?

Are you using HDMI cables? Or Component? If Component cables, make sure the green and blue ones are plugged in. Also try plugging into another input if you haven't.

Did it come from Costco? Their warranty on electronics is only 90 days now.

You can call Samsung as some have said, but I doubt they'd fix it for free without a purchase date or record. Can you ask the company where they bought it and maybe a copy of receipt?

I spoke to my boss, he says he's taking it to Costco, he doesn't have the receipt, but he has his credit card statement. I don't know what that does. I have component cables and HDMI hooked up to the tv. The tint actually went away for awhile, then it came back. I'm not sure if it was the hot weather Socal had this weekend, it felt like 100s. Would that be a factor?

I thought it was 90 days for return, exchanges.

Whats that 2nd year extended warranty crap then?

It is, even if it's broken you need to go through the manufacturer. On electronics anyways. BUT if he has it on his Amex through Costco, and extended warranty then you'll be all set. You didn't say in the original post you had the warranty or he used an Amex.Wink

Anything could be the problem, even the cables. Did you try switching them around to different inputs, and making sure they were plugged in tight? Is it on all inputs, including the menu's, DVD, Video Games, etc?

He did use amex, thats all he uses. He uses it for his expenses. I'm not sure if he got the extended warranty, but he told me to hand the tv to him and he'll deal with costco.
