Arguably the best deal on a Vitaimix/Blendtec-caliber blender going on right now, but the coupon expires Sept. 2, 2011. I was mistaken. This price ($200 baseline) actually expires TONIGHT even though the coupon expires Sept. 2. I have changed the title of this post accordingly. If you want it, buy it before midnight today 8/31/2011 (I'm assuming midnight Central time).

Use coupon Welcomeback15 to take 15% off the base price of $200. COUPON EXPIRES SEPT. 2, 2011!

$170 for a high-powered blender with sound enclosure and 64-oz carafe isn't bad at all, even if you have only 2 presets. The main drawbacks: it only comes with a couple of preset buttons (that some people are saying you can reprogram but I am skeptical) so you may end up pressing Pulse a lot; and the warranty is only a year. But some credit cards may double that or something. You can also buy a squaretrade extended warranty on this unit if it's worth it to you:

If you want it in black, the base price goes up to $250. -15% = $212.49

I already own a Blendtec, but it doesn't have a sound enclosure, making me hesitant to use it late at night or in the morning. I intend to use this as my early-morning/late-night blender.

If you don't know why people love Blendtecs/Vitamixes and why these are worth paying extra for... let's just say that Blendtec/Vitamix blenders are in a whole 'nother league and can do things you simply can't do with normal blenders, whether it's making smoothies that are smooth enough to be baby food, or ice cream, or even hot soup: <-- they stopped short of boiling it, but yes it boils water if you run it long enough, like 15 minutes or something... not very energy-efficient but still nice to know it can do it

Item description here: <-- Yes the Wildside jar aka the 96 oz. jar fits if you want to replace the 64-oz jar that comes with this blender.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

VMinnovations is not a sham company. They are a legitimate up-and-comer. I've seen people badmouth in reviews, or Walmart, or pretty much any retailer you can think of. No retailer is going to have perfect reviews. If you're worried, use Paypal so they don't have your credit card number.

Note from VMInnovations:

Howdy Slickdealers,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the hassle that the refurbished Blendtec blender has caused some of you. Our customers are very important to us and we do our best to treat you with the fairness, respect and understanding you deserve.

If you received a defective unit, please email us at we will offer you a replacement at no charge. As soon as your return is processed we will deliver your replacement at no charge to you.

At VMInnovations we sell over 10,000 different NEW products & a few refurbished units like the Blendtec blender. As noted before, these blenders were refurbished by an independent certified 3rd party (not Blendtec) where parts were replaced as needed and unacceptable units were discarded.

Your satisfaction is important to us & if you are not happy with the product you received please let us know. However, please note as the listing states these blenders are refurbished & may show signs of use. This posting is intended for our customers that received defective unit. If your unit is not functioning the way it is designed to we will replace it at no cost to you.

Thank you,

We are at your service via

Many users are reporting foggy and spider cracked plastic and leaky jars. These units do not seem to be refurbished at all but simply tested and functional. Not so slick when you get them in the mail.

eBay Feedback for VMInnovations: 99.7% active seller for 6 years -

Blendtec recipes

Warranty: 1 Year VM Innovations Warranty <-- not as good as BlendTec warranty which covers EVERYTHING. <--- I'm sorry but this is not true. The normal Blendtec warranty only covers the base for multiple years, not the jar, which is the most likely to break. You are referring to when Blendtec had a special sale that had a 10-year warranty that covered both base and jar for 10 years, but that is not their normal practice. I don't know if or when we'll ever see that deal come back. Please don't spread misinformation. See: and search for "warranty" to see.

I would wait until the BlendTec $250 refurb deals come back, with the 10yr warranty. $80 more for 10yr warranty is worth it.

If anything is wrong with the unit, you have to pay to ship it back or pay them 25% restocking fee to return it! Sounds like a sham company. When you check out, the title of the page says, "Page Title" very unprofessional, who know if they'll even still be in business next year. <-- I'm sorry, but this is also incorrect. See below about VMInnovation's return policy for defective units. I am leaving your Amazon review on the wiki anyway, though, for sake of argument.

This review is from: Blendtec ICB3 13Amp Commercial Smoothie Blender - 110V
I have been salivating while waiting for my blender for the last week. I bought frozen fruit and already measured out the wheat to be ground by this blender's raw power. then it arrived, along with a little photocopied manual for a different model. The blender jar had one of the four "feet" on the bottom broken. And the icing on the cake: this "refurbished" blender didn't start. I closed the sound enclosure, reset the machine, and followed the troubleshooting guide. The LCD display turns on but when pressing one of the four buttons, it only beeps. So now, VM Innovations tells me that their broken, not-as-described product will need to be returned at MY cost. THEN, they will ship back another used unit or I can pay them 25% of the purchase price to restock it and cut my losses. I am still deciding what to do.
VMInnovations' latest return policy:

No, the $250 deal was $80 more expensive but gave you 10 year warranty, more pre-set buttons on the base, and 2 carafes (64, 96 oz). But it subtracted a sound enclosure.

This deal is $80 cheaper but you get only 1 64-oz carafe and the base has fewer pre-set buttons (2 manual Pulse, 2 presets presumably for smoothies and grinding coffee or something... these were used by Starbucks after all). You also get a sound enclosure, which is normally very expensive ($300+).

Between the two, the $250 deal is probably more useful for most people due to the larger carafe, but $170 for this deal is very good, especially if you want to keep noise down. I'm getting one just to be able to use my blender in the morning and late at night without offending my neighbors... I already have the regular Blendtec and it is LOUD.

Thanks OP interested.

Been looking for a GOOD blender to mix protein shakes (with frozen fruits) with but everyone I've bought from the store (Target, Wal-Mart) have been crap and never been able to "mix it right". It usually gets stuck and keeps spinning without MIXING anything LOL. So would this actually do it right for once?

Wonder what was wrong with it to be a factory service model? Mostly they do replace the parts in it though.

This is a good price. Grabbed one for my smoothie shop. I have one that went bad and Blendtec wanted $250 for me to send mine back in exchange for a refurbished one. No way!

my brother in law's vitamiz has a dial to control the speed. How would you do something similar on this model?

Is the carafe bpa free or preferably glass? Someone mentioned it had a bpa plastic carafe when this was 200 but I'm not sure how they arrived at that conclusion.
