Parents of school-aged kids: what do they eat at school?

emelvee 40,510 2,053 September 9, 2011 at 01:32 PM
Do you pack your kids' lunches? Do they buy school lunch?

We make our daughter's lunch ~3 times per week, and she buys school lunch ~2 times per week. She'd have us make her lunch every day if it were up to her. Peanut butter & apple sandwich ftw!

It's been all school lunches up until now, but one of them wants to start taking ramen noodles in some days.

Lunch prices here went from $1.10 2 years ago to $2.00 this year. The boys can buy once per week if they choose, but I make lunch every other day.

Ours is $2.50. Probably similar to what it costs to make her lunch.
She prefers the food we make to most of the school lunches. We just didn't want to make it every day so we make her buy twice a week. Plus she probably gets more variety by mixing it up.

Ds takes his everyday. He doesn't want to eat the school's food.

The food at my school was super nasty so I always took mine. I understand him wanting to take his own.

This ordeal is like a fire tempering a sword. It's making chewy even tougher. If he got leprosy and his arm fell off, he'd beat the shit out of a bear, dip his stump in lemon juice and sew it back on with his good hand.
