Does CVS have a new return policy requiring an ID for ALL returns, even if you have a receipt! EEK!

I was in line behind an older lady who was trying to return a bottle of Tums. She had a receipt and she showed the cashier that the bottle was still sealed, hadn't been opened. The cashier asked for her ID and she said she didn't think she needed her ID if she had a receipt so she hadn't brought it. So then the cashier asked for her phone number, said she needed some way to "track" it. Confused The lady hesitated, saying she didn't want to give out her phone number. So I spoke up and said she shouldn't have to give her phone number if she has a valid receipt. Then I pointed to the gray sign on the counter that outlines the return policy and noted that it said nothing about a phone number or ID if you have a valid receipt. The cashier finally backed down and the customer thanked me, but seriously, WTF? Is this a new policy and CVS just hasn't updated their signs yet?
Or just an incompetent cashier? Not like we ever find any of those at CVS. LMAO

Oh, Rose, I am always so jealous of all your cool TPs and blinkie finds Crying2 Are the Sierra Mist blinkies at Kroger only? I need to find me some of these! I got some free Sierra Mist cranberry a few years ago and it's delicious!
The Sierra mist blinkies appear to be Kroger only ( Kroger various names..Ralphs etc...). But I wasn't the first one to find them --- there are many earlier posts about them on the Kroger thread & a couple of posts on the So Cal thread.

Tried to test the Tresemme tearpad $2/2 mq at CVS but the 24 hr store only had the SCOs open & those SCOs can't read GS1s so the Qs had to be overridden by the clerk.
CVS has trial size Tresemme & those MQs don't exclude trial or travel.

Well, at least that clerk didn't question using a Q on trial size --- sometimes they do regardless of what the Q says.

I know there was discussion about CVS Batteries that started smoking/leaking recently. Well, this morning I went to pull some 16 packs of batteries to give to a non-profit for Christmas gifts. I pulled a package from the bottom of the stack They were Duracell, and half of them were leaking. What's worse? These don't expire until 2014! EEK!

I returned something a couple of weeks ago and the register printed out a slip that asked for my name (printed), then signature, phone number and DL number. I signed it but refused to give my phone number and DL number. The cashier got snippy and I told her if CVS gives her any grief, let me know the next time I come in and I'll call them and tell them personally that they can go play in traffic. They don't need any more of my personal info than they already have.

I agree! They had to do a 'return' for me the other day because the cashier accidentally scanned one item three times. I kept saying the total seemed too high, but he was insistent it was fine and I thought it was my addition error because I don't usually go in with a definite plan of what I plan to buy.

When the slip printed out, I scribbled my name in such a way that you couldn't read it and that was it. It's not like that was my fault.

I've read before that there is a database maintained by your DL# to monitor for those who habitually return products.

Just out of curiosity, were you returning without a receipt? I know they ask you for this info if you don't have a receipt. But they shouldn't if you do have a receipt! I have been known to make up phone numbers. And signatures for that matter. Wink (This is when I pay with EB's and have to return due to a price error or an item not counting for a deal and they do the return as a return without a receipt.)

Almost all the stores do that with the information, even when it's from a register error. I sign mine Hello Kitty with fun phone #'s. There's way too much information out there as it is. RA and Wags do the same thing, minus the dl. The paper plates didn't print an +up at RA last week and even a return/rebuy didn't work, so we had to "return" something else to give me the cash for the missing +ups. I had to sign about 4 different forms because of missing +ups. Hello Kitty laugh out loud Sometimes I use other names, but I too make it scribbly. They already have our card numbers with the information, so not sure why the register even prompts for all that. Part of the problem at CVS is I believe, if I understand correctly, that if a return involves ecb's or is the same day that they enter it as a return without receipt, so the register doesn't know it's just a work around. I bought a bunch of lights many weeks back because the store refused to give me a rc for a seasonal item and the second store accepts expired's. Anyway, I ended up finding some of the lights the same day and the SS couldn't get the register to do a return with the receipt information, so they did a return without receipt even though I was just exchanging with the receipt.

I know the alcohol deals are regional, but my ad for next week has a mail-in rebate valid in AZ, CA, IL, KY, NM, NV and WI. Save $15 wyb 3 bottles 750ml Absolut Vodka, Kahlua, Chivas Regal, Malibu, Beefeater Gin, Glenlivet Scotch, or Seagram's Gin between 11/01/12 and 12/31/12. The price for Glenlivet in Socal is $26.99 this week and next week, and $21.99 after rebate is a good price for a single malt scotch. Thought I might mention it this week because there is a better chance of finding the gift boxes in stock before everyone gets the rebate form next week.
You should check out the price at Ralphs as well, All wine & spirits are 30% off wyb 6 bottles 750 ml +

There were wine MQs in last weeks RP inserts. Buy 3 wine bottles & 3 hard liquor, might be a better deal.

Thanks for mentioning the rebate! I was planning on buying some Kahlua at Smiths (Kroger)-- we only get 20% off but it's still a pretty good deal. There were hang tags for $10/3 of the same brands as the rebate above, so double (or is that triple?) dip for an even better deal!

Thanks for that, I just checked the new Ralphs ad and Glenlivet is $22.99 wyb 6 bottles of wine/spirits starting tomorrow!. The rebate in the CVS ad says valid at any retailer.

It's definitely a better deal at Ralphs if you don't need the gift boxes. I just went to Ralphs and they have no gift boxes, so I'm keeping the ones from CVS. It seems to me there are fewer liquor gift boxes this year than in past years.
