What is the volume button issue? Maybe that's the issue. I didn't have a problem with my volume button but maybe that's causing it. I'm going to try it on the touchstone again but this is beyond frustrating. Hopefully it wakes up.
the volume button is struck. Physically you are not feeling it's rocking up and down. When pressing volume down, it goes all the way down and keep going....that causes this TP draining battery.

I haven't pressed the volume button in last 12 hours, battery is still holding 100% in WebOS standby mode.

How would you go about fixing this issue? I'm kind of freaked out to open to the TP but I've opened other devices before to replace the battery etc.

I've been looking further into the issue of the 'sleep of death' where the battery goes dead and doesn't recharge. It all sounds so random, and there must be something that would produce consistent results. I'm not having any issues at the present, but I am one that will leave the TP off the charger for an extended period of time of non-use and will most likely be fighting this myself.

One reviewer has rated the HP TP charger as one of the best out on the market. The chief reason being that the charger will supply a higher level of current than any other charger on the market.

I've seen some suggestions to charge the TP from either a standard USB port or another USB charger, perhaps even with a different cable. (HP's cables apparently go bad) These alternatives would charge the TP at a slower rate due to less current.

All of this sounds to me that the TP is refusing to charge with it's charger in an effort to protect (?) itself.

My friend's TP went to sleep for 2 weeks. I have tried it on touchstone few times, cable charge, or press reset buttons with different combination. Not working. Last night I tried with the cable charged, no go. Then put it on touchstone. Home button was start flashing! EEK! And now it's fully charged!

I still need to buy a metal pryer to open it and fix the volume button issue. Otherwise the sleep of death issue won't stop.Frown
Do you know of a good way to pop these Touchpads open? My three Touchpads are all just fine as of now, but I'm thinking some day I might try to replace the battery, or even try that mod posted on the interwebz for adding USB OTG (this will have to wait til the Touchpad gets a bit more outdated).
Anyway, it seems to me that there is almost no way to open this thing up without wrecking stuff.

Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

thanks for the fast response. but its this statement in the first step that scares me the most (along with quite a few other steps!):
"When you remove the front panel assembly, you are bound to break either the clips or their supports attached to the rear case."

maybe I'm a wuss, but looks pretty intimidating to me. Will definitely be a option of last resort

yeah, that and it says "Difficult" in upper right..I would not bother unless the TP is actually broken.

I have ordered an ipod/iphone fix kit from fleabay. Before that I have tried to use a plastic flat stick to pry it but left a little dent on the edge. So I stopped without further damaging it OMG

I have watched few video about the sensors and detaching cable and so....I will be nervous of doing it...But since I can't re-install CM10 without a working volume button. I will try to open it when tool is arrived (will be few weeks later, as it's shipped from China!)

Yea, Im pretty shocked. It seems leaving off the charger for a few days did something. It was off for maybe 3-4 days. Then I just put it on the Touchstone and left it there. No button presses or anything.
So weird. laugh out loud

I tried everything when it was dead, all the combos you can think of..Nothing worked. Been dead for almost 2 weeks.
