weirdly enough the debugging mode worked. my PC recognizes my touchpad in android now. I've also reinstalled the novacom drivers with both the universal drivers and the one from HP openwebos site. PC is still not recognizing my touchpad on both webos recovery or webos. Charger still doesn't work either. I'm going to try to see if I can borrow someone else's charger or something.
Do the uninstall novacom from control panel. then do a fresh install. That was what I did for mine.

As for USB cable/charger, if you have android phone you should be able to use the cable for your TP.

For your current charging level, is it on the deep undercharge mode? Have you tried to do a reset (menu + power button together) while a wall charger is plugged in?

Can't find Palm novacom or novacom in my control panel / uninstall a program. But the Palm inc folder does have all the relevant files. The novacomd service is also already started.

What is deep undercharge?

I've done the menu + power button many many times both with the charger and without the charger.

Thanks for the help!

As messed up as your situation is, at least you're making progress.

It's called "Novacomd" on the control panel/uninstall a program list.
deep sleep/undercharge when battery is drained beyond the normal level and can't use the normal way to charge. We forced reset it and let it charge until it can be booted into WebOS menu.
It may be your cable, but since your PC could recognize Android driver I thought cable was good. Make sure your new cable is used for both data + charge.

Mandatory webOS system update
A certificate used on webOS devices expires on July 23, 2013. For the system to be able to use cloud services such as Backup/Restore and App Catalog the certificate needs to be updated.
Beginning June 6th an automatic update to the Application Catalog has replaced the certificate. That means that if your device is running webOS “2.1” or greater you can have the certificate installed automatically by activating your device and accepting the update.
If your device is running a webOS version older than “2.1”, or you want to manually install, go to the HP App Catalog on your device and select the app called “App Catalog Update”, download and install it on your system.
To install the new certificate, download and install this application.
After July 23rd, 2013, it will be necessary to take special steps to install this update. Details will be available on the HP support site https://developer.palm.com/suppor...m13.346142

Got this in my email today. Hopefully this won't break my bootloader like some previous versions have done. Don't remember the last time I used it but like the ability to fire my OS no matter who it is.

I have not even booted into webOS in over a year or more. I am not going to bother updating anything within it. I also use the boot loader but have zero reason to use webOS.

I noticed that there is a system update as well, 3.0.5 86.
Neither works.
The app catalog update fails every time. and the system update, downloads it, installs it then reboots and tells me that it has failed.
webOS was the best touch interface in the world, up until Win 8, but it had and has the worst support know to man.

Edit July 10. I finally got the App Catalog Update, but still can't get the system update, not that it matters much.

BTW: Thanks for the heads up. RiversMerge.

Just thought I would give a heads up that there unoffiical CM 10.1 nightlies still being made. I have no experience with them, but it's good to see people are still working on getting the Touchpad fully functional.

You can find the nightlies here http://goo.im/devs/milaq/tenderloin/cm10.1
Here's the XDA thread where they talk about the nightlies http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...?t=2290346

Look at the Wiki of this thread. There is a fairly stable version of CM 10.0 and a very stable version of CM 9.0. It's really up to you to decide.

Just make sure you follow the directions exactly as they're written.

In theory this should work as your new ROM would overwrite the older, experiemental, ROM that you're using. I would caution that the "unofficial 10.1 nightlies" might have some odd things broken in them. I would recommend using the thread on either XDA or RootzWiki to decide which of the more recent nightlies is the most stable.

The short answer is yes.
That's what we all do.
If a nightly does something weird and glitchy, we just flash back to the previous nightly.

CM10 (Jelly Bean 4.1.2) from April 18 is very stable. I've been using it for three months without a single hiccup. Not so sure about CM 10.1 (Jelly Bean 4.2.2). If you just want it to work, and work well, go with 4.1.2.

I installed CM7 a long time ago... is there an easy way to get CM10 installed? Without going through and wiping everything?

If I remember right you have to put a different version of a couple of boot files (ACME Installer) on the device, run a simple command via command line and then it flashes the new version. I know there are good videos that detail this process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39d_d2wZRng CM7 android 2.3 and CM9-CM10 (Android 4.0+) is a huge jump, so you might have to redownload your apps. I know you don't need to "format" the device and start completely over. Once your at CM9 the upgrade to CM10 is just a flash I believe.
