Here's the SlickDeals link to the Target Deal in August. Read the WIKI comments on the first page, a wealth of information for this Acer A0722 netbook. Be aware the August deal for for the 'BZ454' flavor and this thread is for the '0473' flavor. Also note the Optimization links, it has some good suggestions.

For the older c-50 deals with some possibly relevent info for those who want to learn and experiment some more.

TURN ON HARDWARE ACCELERATION FOR SUPER-SMOOTH YOUTUBE/FLASH VIDEOS!
I don't know why this isn't enabled by default; I can see a lot of non-tech-savvy people returning their netbooks if they're trying to watch YouTube while doing ANYTHING else at the same time, as video will stutter since it uses 100% of the CPU power by default.
Instructions:
1) Right click on desktop
2) Click AMD Vision Engine Control Center
3) Click "Video Quality" under Video settings
4) Click "Other Video Settings"
5) Scroll down, click "Apply current video quality settings to Internet video"

Doing this lowered the CPU usage while watching a 1080p Avatar trailer as a test on YouTube, from 100% to 22-34%! That's room enough to have other programs running while streaming HD videos online, with absolutely no stutter. Smilie
I don't see ANY disadvantage to doing this either; power usage goes from 20 watts down to 16 watts, which means your battery will last longer! You would think the manufacturer would enable a setting that properly utilizes the GPU for video instead of letting the CPU do all the work... shake head

Netflix in HD Recommendations
Google Chrome browser and WMC Netflix option seem to work the best. After doing above fix and others in this and previous wiki.

If you are watching on external digital screen you may need to enable lcd overdrive(vga does not have this option). By default the internal is on, external is off.(some lcd's may not need this fix for they already have this built in)

To do this follow above instructions 1) and 2) then click on My Digital Flat-Panels>LCD Overdrive(Digital Flat-Panel) > click Enable LCD Overdrive > Slide 3/4 of the way to the right or whatever works best for yours Click Apply. With this fix other browsers seem to work fine externally now.

REMOVE JUNKWARE
Install The PC Decrapifier v2.28 [pcdecrapifier.com]. It's Free.
Boot time reduced from 82 seconds to 57 seconds after decrapification.
Takes about 30 minutes to delete all useless programs

BACKUP SYSTEM DRIVERS
It's a good idea to make a cd of all your system drivers in case you need to reformat.
Install Double Driver v4.1 [boozet.org]. It's Free.

Re-crapifier(your choices this time)
Quickly download/install common programs including Silverlight & CCCP player
http://www.ninite.com It is basically the opposite of PCDecrapifier where you select the programs you want to install and it does it all with one packaged installer. Great software and I use it everytime I do a fresh install or help a friend setup a new comp. Thanks to mrmexican87+whoever did that wiki post for this one. (shamelessly cut and pasted from previous c-50 wiki)

OR...

Alternative Summary and additional comments:
Once you remove everything it came with, run CCleaner, clean out all temp files, run the registry cleaner, install the latest AMD Vision graphics drivers from the AMD website, enable hardware acceleration on Internet videos (instructions at the top of the wiki)...

Also, VLC is a big resource hog because it has so many codecs built into it. I wouldn't use it on a low-powered netbook. Get Media Player Classic and an mkv decoder. Try this one: http://www.cccp-project.net/. Hope that helps.

Add integrated Bluetooth:
I decided I wanted integrated Bluetooth. Since the chipset used for the original wireless WiFi is Atheros, I decided I should find an Atheros solution to thwart off any possibility of compatibility problems. A search on the internet for mini PCIe Atheros came up with some listings on Ebay. The one I settled on is an Atheros AR5B195 Wireless + Bluetooth Half Mini PCI-E Card for $21 including shipping.

It arrived today and I installed it. It was a very simple procedure to remove the existing wireless card (open the case, pop off the antennae leads, remove the hold down screw) Reverse the procedure to install the new card. The new card also has two antennae connections. WiFi and Bluetooth share the antennae.

Two sets of drivers are needed. The Atheros Bluetooth drivers can be found on the Acer Aspire One AO722 drivers section. The Atheros WiFi drivers were a bit hard to find. I tried several different ones before I had success. The successful driver was a Dell DW1702 wireless card driver. R301705.exe. The driver did not want to initially install probably because the driver package was looking for a Dell machine. So what I did was go to the device manager, pick the network device not working (our new Atheros card) and install the driver by hand by pointing to the Dell driver directory. Voila, the driver installed. As soon as the driver was installed, wireless was again available.

Everything appears to be working fine. I can now use a Bluetooth mouse without a dongle!

FP worthy for the netbook alone.

You will probably see AMD C-50 systems for $150 for the BF "door busters." $200 AMD E-350 will also be there.

Ah I was referring to the tv price will be around black friday prices. I think you're right about the netbooks though.

Seems to be the VR-3215 NOT the VR-3225 that OP has stated. The only difference (that I can find) seems to be the contrast ratio which is 2000:1 in the 3215 vs 6000:1 in the 3225

1080 or not, it is still a Westinghouse, which kills it for me. After all of the problems I have personally seen with Westinghouse brand televisions (I managed an Electronics/Appliance store locally for over 3 years), I will NEVER own one. shake head
