Ruger's new SR22 pistol came out last month and looks to be a lot more reliable than some of the other polymer .22LR pistols on the market. I was looking around for the best deal I could, and KYGunCo seemed to be it. They have it for $299 w/ free shipping using personal checks. They add 3% if you use a credit card, so it is $309 shipped if you go that route. Comes with the pistol, 2 grips, (2) 10 round mags, (2) different mag floor plates, adjustable sights, and a pouch carrying case. Ordered mine a couple days ago, be here tomorrow at my FFL. They ship pretty fast and I've ordered another gun from them recently, they are a nice company to do business with.

KYGunCo Ruger SR22 [kygunco.com]

The Ruger® SR22™ pistol is the do-it-all .22 pistol for the shooter who appreciates style and demands reliability! Packed with versatile features, the SR22™ pistol is lightweight (just 17.5 ounces) and perfect for just about anything - plinking, target shooting and even small game hunting. It is easy to field-strip, fun to shoot, and will reliably accept a variety of ammunition (not just high-velocity).

My dad has one of these. Shot it today actually. I thought this would be a nice one for myself, closer to an XD for practicing. Not a substitute, just closer.. And they are a breeze to break down vs the MK II's. They are nice shooting guns though.

I ordered one of these the day they came out for $298+5.99 shipping.
The FFL transfer was only $10.
I have the Walther P22, but it jams all the time...these are supposed to be a reliable version of the P22...in fact, they are exactly the same size.

If it was a rifle, you'd only need your drivers license. But since it's a pistol, you'll need not only a drivers license, but also show a recent utility bill and your firearm permit as well when you pick it up. (I'm going by California experience, but I think that part applies for all states.)

You really need to check your local gun laws for MN. Each State has its own laws which you need to know before considering purchasing a firearm. Here is a pretty good link, but just Google Minnesota firearm laws and you will get plenty of results... http://www.saf.org/lawreviews/owen1.htm

I just got my first. When you buy, they have to ship it to a dealer (mine I got shipped to my gun range). Than you have to pay a transfer fee (paid $35 total with all their fees). The only doc they need is your DL. They than make you fill out a form, and they ask you to come back in 5 business day (so they can run a back ground check??) and done. No need for gun license if you wont carry the gun...
Hope I could helped.

BTW, I am in FL (GO HEAT!!) We just lost a game...

I've decided the Ruger SR22 will be my next .22 pistol purchase, but I'm gonna wait a while and see if they come out with a model with a threaded barrel.

Recent utility bill? laugh out loud Commiefornia and their wacky gun laws.

All the gates and deer stands have Ruger padlocks on them. Rofl2 I guess he's at least using them as opposed to never taking them out of the box like me.

How does 30 days on the market establish itself as reliable? I'd consider a year or more with thousands of rounds without problems to prove its reliability.

Also, with such small rounds why are the .22 pistols always 10 rounds? On'y CA has to deal with the bizarre 10 round mag limit.
