DVD player that plays bootleg and international DVDs

jonnejon 129 18 February 6, 2012 at 08:52 PM
I am looking for a DVD player for my grandma as she goes to China and brings back these bootlegged Chinese movies and TV shows. Most of them do not play on her recently borken DVD player (especially the one that comes in DVD sleeves). She doesn't watch american television as she doesn't understand them and she lives in a elderly home so she says she gets bored without watching the DVDs.

Looking for a reliable and a relatively cheap one (about $50 or less). She doesn't have a HDTV so blu-ray and other fancy features aren't required. Thanks!

Obviously, the big question is what kind of discs are they? Are they just regular dvd's blu-ray's or something else? VCD's maybe but probably not. CBHD but that is an HD format, and I doubt they sell anything in the U.S. that supports that. It could it even be individual files in a computer format like .rmvb.

I think those are DVD with region. I know that some Phillip's DVD player that sold in Walmart or Best Buy can be hacked into region free. Just check the model and google to see if it can be hack into region free by entering some number.

My Raite DVD player plays anything like that, But they stopped making those years ago.

I think you can find some Coby brand DVD players at Walmart that did the same thing exceot they didn't like XVCD's.
