Thread Details

Last Edited by godfather927 February 27, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Thread to discuss movies of any type and date, but perhaps with more focus on recent ones in the past couple years.

Please be courteous to others when discussing a fairly recent movie with unexpected plot elements or endings, and always spoiler tag comments that could ruin the story for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. When trying to decide whether or not to tag something, please err on the side of caution since even the mention that a certain movie has a twist (without divulging what it is) could end up being a mini-spoiler itself.

In case you don't already know how, you can spoiler tag any block of text with the following tags:

this tag goes at the end of the hidden text ~~~~>
this tag goes at the beginning of the hidden text ~~~~>
I like his movies quite a bit actually. Vanilla Sky, Minority Report, Mission Impossible series.
I loved War of the Worlds.

A Few Good Men was his best work, by far.
Why so serious? With a few exceptions, I am not much on his serious non-action roles.

I liked that one quite a bit as well but it was theme & story of the movie itself, not so much the part he played.

In A Few Good Men? I didnt think he was any more serious in that than he was in Vanilla Sky or Minority Report.

Achievements are not for the meek, it is better to forfeit inheritance of the earth so that the mighty may look upon my gamerscore, and despair. Achievements are for men who dream; men who dare; men who achieve! Men who carve out entire galaxies with nothing more than nimble cheetos-dusted fingers and their wits, and in our leisurely twilight days we shall sit by softly flickering fires with our descendants recounting the tales of these unimaginable glories.

Yeah. Those are my 2 exceptions. That and AFGM is much more realistic vs VS & MR being purely fictional. Not saying AFGM is a bad movie, just not my personal cup o tea.

Just watched Broken City, no idea what really happened. I wouldn't recommend it.

Just watched Killing Them Softly. I thought it was a great movie. Brad Pitt continues to impress me.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation - Good popcorn flick and levity scattered about but not as much as the first which is a good thing because the first G.I. Joe movie was too campy. Lots of booms, explosions, grunts, sweat, bullets, but not very endearing considering the story. They've already greenlit a third movie I presume to close out the trilogy so we'll see how they go with the story with

I know I'm late but I just watched Skyfall over the weekend. Casino Royale put me to sleep but Skyfall was very entertaining.

I just saw Skyfall as well on saturday, but I actually liked Casino Royale better. Both were better than Quantum of Solace though.

. . . and it is awesome everytime right?

I just saw Django Unchained over the weekend. It was a little long for my tastes but I still enjoyed it. Quintin certainly knows how to make blood splatter; however, he sucks at accents.
