Thread Details

Thread to discuss movies of any type and date, but perhaps with more focus on recent ones in the past couple years.

Please be courteous to others when discussing a fairly recent movie with unexpected plot elements or endings, and always spoiler tag comments that could ruin the story for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. When trying to decide whether or not to tag something, please err on the side of caution since even the mention that a certain movie has a twist (without divulging what it is) could end up being a mini-spoiler itself.

In case you don't already know how, you can spoiler tag any block of text with the following tags:

this tag goes at the end of the hidden text ~~~~>
this tag goes at the beginning of the hidden text ~~~~>
Good one LMAO I just read the Wiki on it to kind of get an impression of what the book may contain and realized, oh it only contained the title that the movie used.

Great idea about B Wing...hadn't thought of that.

We were talking about that at lunch... Your 40 yard dash is a good example, but in thinking it through, if you are dead, you no longer need to breath since you don't need oxygen. Breathing and muscle fatigue are big parts to running, so if you are no longer concerned with muscle soreness, or breathing or anything...you could run at an all out sprint for MILES until you actually started to tear things. Again, that doesn't mean you can go 200% faster in a 40 yard dash, but you could keep up that 40 yard speed for WAY longer. Also there weren't really many 400lb'ers out there in the movie.

The Mrs. said that the climbing scene (in all the previews) was her hangup, that no one could climb that fast. But I said, if you had no fear of falling or hurting yourself, you could climb REALLY fast since you wouldn't worry as much about hand holds and whatnot. If you fell, you fell...no biggy.
Alright, I'll give you the muscle fatigue thing, but doesn't explain the speeds. I personally liked Zombieland for the actual pace aspect of zombies. Not exactly Romero's "Night of the Living Dead," but not the "Dawn of the Dead" remake either. As long as you do rule #1, you should be ok.

Agrees about the no fear, but the balance thing still gets me. Perfectly balanced, no equilibrium problems at all whatsoever while climbing is what I don't understand. They should be at least a little clumsy like their living being predecessors. Only thing I could see about these zombies is that they couldn't put on brakes quick enough and they would careen off walls at each turn. Not good enough for me for believability.

Well, it's not just the speed.
They physics of the way the large groups of zombies move don't quite track with reality.
In the previews at least the groups move more like a liquid than like herds of animals, surging over obstacles in weird waves.

It's hard to explain exactly what's wrong about it, but it don't look right.

They make mentions of the zombies moving like a wave of water in the movie. So, that was obviously on purpose, haha. They reminded me of a scene in Jurassic Park the pack of dinos are moving all around..

Saw WWZ last night with the lady. When Gerry was I thought it was a pretty good movie, much better than I had expected.

Olympus Has Fallen

I totally had a misunderstanding of what this movie was about. I thought it was about some type of alien invasion. Not a one-person death defying badass trying to reclaim the white house from the Koreans. The movie was ok but pretty drawn out.

i wonder how this one will compare with White House Down. Also, is White House Down a tie in with Black Hawk Down or something? Or just someone being funny?

You know Black Hawk Down was based on a true story right?

I hope you're the one that's trying to be funny.(it didn't work)

It wasn't a joke...and just because one is based on a true story doesn't mean the same writers / directors couldn't make another movie that was fictional. I was just asking if they were trying to make an off shoot of it (with similar characters or whatever).

I couldn't tell you 1 character that was in BHD, so I didn't know if the same guys (I didn't think Jamie Foxx was in it, and Channing might have been in it as someone 'less popular' before he got his break). Don't know and too lazy to look.
