Thread to discuss movies of any type and date, but perhaps with more focus on recent ones in the past couple years.

Please be courteous to others when discussing a fairly recent movie with unexpected plot elements or endings, and always spoiler tag comments that could ruin the story for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. When trying to decide whether or not to tag something, please err on the side of caution since even the mention that a certain movie has a twist (without divulging what it is) could end up being a mini-spoiler itself.

In case you don't already know how, you can spoiler tag any block of text with the following tags:

this tag goes at the end of the hidden text ~~~~>
this tag goes at the beginning of the hidden text ~~~~>
Watched The Town the other night. Not as good as I anticipated but probably worth checking it out.

That probably sucked for anyone who was shot.

I enjoyed it for the most part, but it fell way short of Heat (the movie it was modeled after.)

Same. Enjoyed The Town (worth watching as a rental)but had no clue it was modeled after Heat. And as I'm sure most would agree those two movies don't even belong in the same realm of comparison.
I thought The Town was complete garbage. I only sat through it because I was at a friends house and drinking.

Not even comparable to Heat.

How? It was one of the better movies I have watched in a while. I really liked it personally. I'd rather watch that than The Grey. (I'd rate that still a rental though)

I thought the acting was HORRIBLE.

And didn't Ben Affleck direct or produce it or something? I'm thinking he should stick to acting, but as bad as his skills were in that movie, that'd even be a stretch nowadays.

I did watch Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood over the weekend though for about the billionth time laugh out loud

That movie cracks me up every time.

I thought real steel looked completely retarded and don't understand how a movie like that gets so much interest. I also watched a little bit of it but it's just not my thing at all.

dude The Town was such a sick movie, I have seen it a few times. I am probably partial though because I know all the areas they were in.

Same here...Didn't really enjoy The Town..

I haven't really watched any movies lately. I think the last thing I saw Tin Tin which I enjoyed for what it was. I'm really looking forward to this summer with Prometheus and Batman- Dark Knight Rising.

any of you guys watch "Requiem For A Dream" by Darren Aronofsky (who also did Pi and Black Swan amongst others)? I loved that movie. Plus Jennifer Connelly is in and she does a anal to anal dildo scene (no joke) but they don't really show anything but her facial expression in that scene.

The scene is basically a dark room filled with corporate suits and two close to naked chicks on their hands and knees on a table surrounded by the suits. One of the older dudes yells out, "ASS TO ASS!!" (pretty sure he's holding the massive dildo when he says this) to which the rest of the suits cheer heartily in agreement. laugh out loud

But even if that scene wasn't in the movie I'd recommend it over Black Swan (which I thought was good not great). Great use of music and pretty awesome direction IMO.

word, I wouldn't say best of all time but it's one of my favorites for sure. Then again whenever someone asks me what's your favorite movie of all time (a question I always fail to answer) this is one of the ones I consider along with Pulp Fiction.

That is actually the scene I always think about when I think of that movie...it is farking heart wrenching...

When you describe it, it is like you are watching a Pron, but...the point of the movie is how low drugs will take you, and the sh*t you have to do just to get another fix...

Seriously though, whenever I hear that song ([Lux Aeterna By Clint Mansell] [youtube.com]) all I think about is that old dude yelling "ASS TO ASS!!!!" and I get a little sick inside.
