Thread Details

Last Edited by godfather927 February 27, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Thread to discuss movies of any type and date, but perhaps with more focus on recent ones in the past couple years.

Please be courteous to others when discussing a fairly recent movie with unexpected plot elements or endings, and always spoiler tag comments that could ruin the story for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. When trying to decide whether or not to tag something, please err on the side of caution since even the mention that a certain movie has a twist (without divulging what it is) could end up being a mini-spoiler itself.

In case you don't already know how, you can spoiler tag any block of text with the following tags:

this tag goes at the end of the hidden text ~~~~>
this tag goes at the beginning of the hidden text ~~~~>
probably doesn't show anything so
while that much is true, (and IMO the movie is overrated), I still think it's worth a rental (even with the sissy shit going on) heh heh.

any of you guys watch "Requiem For A Dream" by Darren Aronofsky (who also did Pi and Black Swan amongst others)? I loved that movie. Plus Jennifer Connelly is in and she does a anal to anal dildo scene (no joke) but they don't really show anything but her facial expression in that scene.
That's one of those ones I've been meaning to watch for a few years.

dude LMAO I know it's a heart wrenching scene, i was being purposely misleading. Still an awesome movie.
I want to make the Mrs. watch that movie but she dwells on stupid sh*t a lot...I KNOW she wouldn't get the point of what was going on and just see half to full naked chicks and flip out. It's sad but there are a lot of good movies she would flip her lid about them like she is some crazy Amish lady. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I popped the movie in one night for a third viewing and didn't tell my wife what it was. So she started watching it and got hooked of course but despite the shit that goes down, she simply could not stop watching. She's the type that generally only enjoys feel good movies with happy endings. Needless to say...this was not her style of movie. But she begrudgingly admitted it was pretty damn good despite the way it made her feel in the end.

For me, after the movie ended I definitely didn't feel all that great either but I do recall thinking (despite my emotions), "That was awesome".

I'm the worst about movie watching. I think part of that stems from preferring an ideal watching environment (volume up, movies are supposed to have dynamic range, and lights down). Combine that with most of the movies I want to watch being kid-inappropriate, and it's hard to watch movies without waking someone up.

I didn't think the town was too bad.. I wouldn't watch it multiple times like office space or anything but it wasn't bad.. Note that I don't love or hate Ben aflek.

The Artist... I know it's gotten a lot of hype from the oscars but it was one of the best movie i've seen in a long time. I'd give it a 5 (must see in theaters) if i was going to use the scale posted earlier but my personal view is more of a 4.5. The lack of the 1/2 a star is because it can be a little slow in some parts. But overall its a great movie! Go see it!

Jeremy Renner should have won best supporting actor for that movie.
