Please, no requests for app coupons or app coupon trades here. Post your requests or trade offers in the
Staples Coupon Thread

1. What's the Staples app?
This is an app from Staples that provides access to your Staples account, as well as Staples rewards account, and provides some useful tools.
You can read more about it here: Linky [staples.com]

2. How can I get it?
Android version is here: Linky [google.com]
iOS version is here: Linky [apple.com]
Any android phone or iPhone will work. In addition, you can install it on iPod Touch, iPad, Android Tablets, or HP TP running Android.

3. What's "check-in"?
When you are in a Staples store, you can click on the "Check in" button, and once your location is determined by the app, you'll be presented with a confirmation, and a coupon will be issued. The coupons state that they expire in 24-48 hours after they are issued, but in reality they can be used until the "real expiration date" (see WiKi for details). Please note that you do NOT need to sign into your Staples and/or Staples rewards account to receive the check in coupons. Coupons are generated once per device every 24 hours if you check in every 24 hours once the previous coupon has expired. The store makes no difference to the process. Multiple store check-ins in the same 24 hours does not get you any more coupons. You get the same one with the same 16 digit code. Since the device number is stored at a Staples server and coupons are per device, multiple devices will give you unique coupons per device.

4. Do I have to be physically in the store to check in?
Luckily, the answer is no. You can "spoof" your location by using certain apps that trick your phone to report specific coordinates. Depending on the app, you can either enter the coordinates of a Staples store or find it on a map and use that to create check in coupons from home/work.
For Android, Fake GPS [google.com] works great, along with few other examples (e.g., Location Spoofer, etc). For iOS devices, please see the WiKi (you need to jail break your iOS device).

5. Can I keep the coupons beyond the 24-48 hour expiration time frame?
Yes. If you take a screen shot of the coupon, you can keep it and use it later. On some Android phones, as well as iOS devices, pressing down power and home (or power and volume down) buttons simultaneously takes a screen shot. For devices that don't have this "built in", there are 3rd party apps.

6. Are the coupons random?
As of now, they seem to follow a certain sequence as outlined in the Wiki.

7. Can I stack these coupons with other app and/or paper coupons?
The % off coupons stack with $ off coupons. If you have 1 app coupon and 1 paper coupon (in either format), it will work "easier" compared to having 2 app coupons, since you are not supposed to have 2 of them at the same time. You can try printing out some of the app coupons to combine them.

8. Can I obtain any other coupons, in addition to the check in coupons, from the app?
The app generates coupons that can be used in store, online or over the phone. You can log into your Staples Rewards account from the app and access your Coupon Wallet and use whatever coupons you may have in there based on their T&Cs (e.g., in store only, online/phone only, etc). Those coupons have nothing to do with the app; they are under your Staples Rewards account and can be accessed from the web interface using a PC or directly from the mobile app.

Need your help my friend.
I have received 3 $10 off $75 App Coupon with the same code but different dates

03/03 to 03/10 - used on 03/03
03/04 to 03/10
03/08 to 03/10

I don;t know if they are still good coupons to use or not.

Thanks for your help
The new app is regurgitating the same code on subsequent check ins and modifying the start date. If you already used the code you cannot use it again. Always been true of 16 digit codes. To verify for yourself if a coupon has not been used just add it to a cart online. It will tell you if it is still good or has already been used or it is expired.

Get 6 more devices and stagger them a day apart so you always have a coupon handy. Or install bluestacks on one or more PCs. Or uninstall/reinstall the app and get a $10/$75 on the third checkin. See the wiki for this approach. Or just keep checking in. See my daily update for coupon sequence and you can see if you want to uninstall/reinstall or just keep going.

Does anyone have a $10/$75 app coupon that they could spare? I can trade you a $5/25 or 20% off BR coupon (sent through email).

A- no
B- no
C- yes because instant savings is just another coupon and all threshold coupons look at the subtotal (or subtotal of qualifying items like w/ the OS coupon) before any other coupons applied
D- yes
Thanks. Regarding C, this is true even though the "instant savings" coupon isn't reflected on the receipt?

True for kiosk. I am not so sure this is true for store purchases. IF A is no, then C should be no for store purchases.

In store I think they just discount the price and in the pricing breakdown it'll say "save" whatever the discount should be without needing to apply any coupon. Whereas the discount is called an "instant savings" on the website and is a coupon. So the same item being sold online and instore will not technically have a coupon when purchased in-store, but they achieve the same thing online with "instant savings" which in reality is a coupon. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

crap forgot about the survey coupon. thanks for reminding me Big Grin

On a side note, I am going to stop updating the wiki with the daily reinstall stuff. I'll keep reinstalling it on my iPad, and I'll update the wiki only when I see something different in the process, that way the wiki doesn't get cluttered up with the same info.
If you end up trying to stack it with a another $ off coupon, please let us know what happens.

Some have been generating coupons for the mobile app for well over a year. Have different devices with different OSs. Have jail broken or Mod'd devices as well. Most of the issues are discussed in this thread.

In store they just show the price with "instant savings" below the discounted price. Does not help with minimums for mobile app coupons. Online there are two types of savings these days, 1) instant savings and 2) SAVE. Instant savings are a coupon online and also a coupon for a kiosk order that requires scanning at the register. SAVE is just a price reduction either online or when ordering from the kiosk. The online price before any instant savings is the price used when using mobile app coupons on a kiosk order as part of the minimum. Used to great effect with the past mobile app coupons. SAVE does not help with coupon minimums. Price you see is what you get to use. You have to be careful with "instant savings" when doing kiosk orders as they will carry over and be used in rewards calculations. Do not put 100% rewards items together with any instant savings kiosk items. Proration from instant savings will apply against the 100% rewards item(s).

Thanks for the detailed explanantion. However, I don't see any "instant savings" on my receipt with in-store Mcafee IS.

What kind of error? I had server errors yesterday and they did go away. Check in errors are mainly due to location errors. You have to set the location properly to avoid them. Just post what you are doing and what device you are using as maybe someone can tell you what is happening. Also note what app you are using for a location spoofer. What version are you using? 2.31, 2.4, or 2.41? Version can be found under Concierge button. The more detail you provide the better. Also, power off/on your device, reset location, uninstall/reinstall app will clear up many issues. The new app 2.4 and up is buggy.

Are you expecting an instant savings for McAfee? Sometimes is is there for some products and other times it is not.

My mistake. It shows as "Save" online so it's not an instant savings.
