I got my OCZ SSD in the mail today. I just popped the drive in and took out the stock Apple drive. Holding down Command R doesn't take me to the recovery partition.
Internet recovery loaded up. I was going to format the drive, so I opened Disk Utility. It detects a 120GB drive (which mine is), but the option to wipe is grayed out. Whatever. So then I tried to install Lion. It asked me to select a drive, but the list of drives is empty...
I tried Command R again just now, but it's currently loading up Internet Recovery again.
On the plus side, it's kinda working now. Internet Recovery wouldn't work, so then I put my stock drive in an external enclosure. Doing Command R worked and it's downloading Lion as I type. It's probably my fault that it didn't work.
Holy SSD, Batman! This is my first experience with an SSD. Early 2011 MBP boots in 19 seconds and shuts down in 1 second. Wow.
Pretty intense, isn't it? My current-gen MBAir with the flash storage is at the login screen in under 9 seconds from where you hear the startup gong. After using solid state storage on a laptop I would never go back to a spinning hard drive.
