RITE AID CHAT THREAD

This thread is being created for us to come and talk/chat. The Rite Aid Deals thread is for the deal talk. So hopefully this thread will help decrease the off topic chatter in the deals thread and we all have a place to chat with each other. nod

Wanted to add that this chat group will follow the same rules of the Lounge. Rules are located here: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=1091306

This is O/T, but I need some advice. DD age 18 who is away at college has a yeast infection and has been using Monistat 7 for 3 days. This morning it is worse. I found a pill called AZO and was wondering if anyone has any fist hand experience with this product or maybe one similar. I would really appreciate any feedback. Smilie

I always thought AZO was for UTI's (or they've increased their product line...) YI never fun - frozen plain (greek) yogurt "fingers" Whistling SwagSearch it lol - works though!
Poor thing! Yeast infections are no fun! I've never heard of the yogurt trick, midwives always told me to put a clove of garlic in cheesecloth and insert-
Also, she should be taking a good probiotic and cut back on sugar. Sugar feeds yeast, while the probiotic will encourage growth of the healthy bacteria needed hug

I thought the yogurt was a good probiotic, is there something else? I told her about the sugar.

It is, but a problem with most yogurt is there's do much sugar in it that it counters the goodness of the probiotics.
You can get probiotics in capsule form at any drugstore. You really want them to have more than 3 billion (whatever's... In the ingredients) lol

I'm with Iluvagooddeal on this one - if Monistat hasn't cleared it up in a few days, gyn+antibios are definitely in order. Those can go downhill fast, I think.

You're welcome. I also agree if it's not cleared up in a couple of days with the probiotics you will want to take her to the dry. The last time I had a nasty one, the dr prescribed one pill and it was better within a few hours. Definitely keep up the probiotics though, especially in conjunction with the antibiotic. Antibiotics have a habit of killing off everything, including the good stuff our bodies need. Probiotics will help with that Smilie
Oh also, no bubble baths. Smilie

I'd recommend getting into the Doc and getting Diflucan. I used to have really bad yeast infection problems and the Diflucan pill just -wow- clears it up in a day.

Long-term, if she's having these continually, she should eat yogurt on a regular basis and as SS mentioned, sugar is supposed to increase yeast problems. (Ummm...yeah, we all know I am a candy freak.)

But, the reason I'm here...did anyone else realize they started a new wellness+ diabetes program on 4/4/12. Wonder if this means we will have to remember to sign up quarterly? Okay, I'm off to chat with RA again.
I know we had to re-sign up a few months ago. So it makes sense we'd have to do it again. They seem to run the promo for a few months and then do a new one, where you have to sign up again.

Seriously, take her to a gynecologist. It could numerous things & it is time to get her professional help.

I don't have any advice on the particular problem, but I can sure sympathize. I had a sick DD away at college 3 hours away for 4 years. She was horribly sick a lot of the time before she had her gallbladder out towards the end of her final year. It really tears at a mother's heart when you can't be right there to make it all better. Hug2
I remember being sick at college. The school doctor was Chinese. I don't know if he could understand me but I couldn't understand a word he said. It inspired me to stay well for the rest of my college yrs.

Idk, she had one last summer and said it is the same. Until I get her home tomorrow I can't really do anything. Thanks to all for the feedback.
