I just approved, got the 7-10 business day message, called recon immediately after, guy was hesitant at first, but I stayed cool. He wanted to know why I had so many credit inquiries and so I just told him that I browse slickdeals a lot. Not even kidding. So he said he was going to investigate some more for a reconsideration. Came back and approved me for $2000. My credit score as of right now on credit karma is 679. lol

Anyone having problems getting Chase to send you a check?

Got my card but no checks in it, then called them up and they said they don't send checks for this card.
What're my options, balance transfer to another card with 0 balance and request a refund check?

Chase won't send you a check. And yes, the option you listed is the best option. Be wary of AmEx though - if the amount is too large (thousands of dollars) - they may actually refuse the Balance Transfer check.

I'm dropping in at the end here... What is too large? I have over $38,000 in credit available on this slate. I think they said on the phone there was a limit to the balance transfer offer, maybe $15,000? Is 15,000 to large? I probably wouldn't want to do this with AMEX anyway, maybe Discover or my USAA card...?

Couldn't disagree more. This is an interest free loan. Some people on here want to complain that they don't think it's worth the risk or they can't get a good risk / return on the $15,000 offered here.

For me the benefits far outweigh the risks. At under 30 I have taken balance transfers every year for the last 5 years allowing me to build credit history. It's also amounted to a $15,000 loan not for one year, but for 5, interest free. As long as the investment you use this money for is liquid enough that you are in a position to pay it off when it "balloons" there is very little risk.

True slickdealer's know when it's smart to carry a balance, whether its a 0% APR credit card or a 3% mortgage.

I was approved for 2k, called 270-2127. they transferred me to customer service and said CLI required a new credit check. what's the other phone number that people were calling? Chicago? I would like a CLI but not with another inquiry.

I got it up to 4k with another credit pull :./

I just got the card and transferred 3800 with 15 months interest free. Smilie

I really need to thank the OP here.
I got the card 15 months ago, initially they gave me $8K, but I asked for more, so took a couple days but ended up with $15K. at the end they only allow me to transfer $13775.
After 15 months I'm saving around $1000~1200 since my APR is only around 10~11% but hey, that's $1000~1200 I'd saved!

now the question is did anyone merge their slate to freedom after the slate is paid off?

Question for one you Slate owners, please. After reading the Pricing & Terms [firstusa.com], I still don't see how they calc the minimum monthly payment on BT amounts during the 0% period. Thanks!

Think of the sleaziest way possible to calculate it. Add a minimum finance fee and a convenience fee. Double it and compound hourly.

Anyone made a BT to Citi or BOA for overpayment and ask for a refund check? How was the experience? Who else make it easy for a BT Refund?
