i don't think you can since you have to buy things as a "credit".

If you could buy things as a debit i would suggest going to a grocery store and getting cash back.

there used to be a method to turn BB GC's into cash.... so you could buy a BB GC then do that but I'm not sure if that's possible anymore.,

Thanks All for your replies Smilie

Do you know what is Amazon Payment? Can I make an account there and fund it with these visa/amex gift cards and then send money to somebody else, for example pay rent with it?

par41287, you are right, and in previous cases I ended up using these cards instead of my regular credit cards till they run out, but then I don't get rewards on my regular credit cards, like grocery stores, on amex blue preferred, you can get 6% reward, or the quarterly 5% rewards with chase, discover, citi, etc. This time I have racked up quite bit of gift cards which takes a good amount of time to off-load Wink

Dr. J, I had read about this BB GC thing too, I shall investigate it.

flyalexair, could you please tell a bit more about Clover? I googled it and it is a famous word and in the first page I could not see what I shall look for.

Take them to your bank and have them do a cash advance for the balance on the card.

you can send it to someone else who has an Amazon payments account, ex: your wife, and then she can have the money deposited in a checking account with no fees involved

I used Square when I had a gift credit card because both my Amazon payment accounts were at the limit. You can get the card reader for free.

Square fees: 2.75% swiped or 3.5% + 15 cents when not swiping.

What is the limit for Amazon payments accounts? Is there a per year limit to how much you can send through Amazon payments?

Are there any fees at all for Amazon payments? (I didn't see anything when I looked around FAQ)

I think the limit is thousand a month but not too sure. I use two accounts.

No fees unless your credit card company charges a cash advance fee. I've been using my Capital One credit card on there for a while and haven't been charged yet. Still get rewards too. Big Grin Make sure not to have the cash advance option checked but that might not help at all. Still could get charged a cash advance fee now or at a later date.

I forgot about amazon payments... I actually used that for a few months to push past CC purchase requirements.

Is this a one-time thing, or for ongoing stuff? Also, how much $$ are we talking about?

Whenever I get visa/amex giftcards, I generally use them to pay bills that allow to be charge a specific amount. So if I get a $100 one, I pay $100 of my cable bill with it. It basically turns itself into cash this way, since I have $100 more in my bank account that I don't need to use to pay a bill with anymore Smilie.

one-time thing, if it was $$ (two-digits) I wouldn't bothered Gurus to ask Wink
I have not tried yet, but it seems some (or all) utility bills can be paid with them, but even store accounts cannot be paid with them.

Is there any other service out there for fees less than 2.75%? thanks.
