Thread Details

Moving to cincy and they don't have a Regions.

I don't wanna go with another "bank", and credit unions aren't for me due to having to find the perfect one and how I like to travel around

But I read about Ally bank....and their rates. Got excited.read about their bankruptcy with the parent company but I'm not scared.

Y'all use it? Convenient? Reliable?

I trust y'all feedback

Ally never has any new member promotions for as long as I've known them. Their promotion is in that you get a no fee bank unlike any other bank out right now with awesome customer service.

Anyways, for all those wondering, and not to brag them even more but I must......I used to have a terrible time getting their echeck processing to work, so I didn't bother using it for a few months, until I got a rebate check two days ago in the mail. I took two snapshots of it using my mobile phone and used their mobile app to process it at around 8pm EST. It processed the next day and the funds are already in my account today. Looks like they've improved their app a WHOLE lot.

One thing to note about Ally is they limit your echeck deposit to 10k. So you get checks larger than 10k, u have to use another bank to make a deposit, which really is kind of a hassle.

10K is the limit they put every 24 hours. If you have a single check with a total of more than 10k that you are trying to deposit via your mobile phone.......(wtf);

1. you have no need to use a bank like Ally, 2. have no reason for browsing 'slickdeals,' and 3. need to get me in on whatever you are doing to make that kind of money. laugh out loud

You'll get crazy newbies who call 3x a day for 2 weeks straight, and post argumentative paranoia demanding the rebate is guaranteed, in writing, by certified mail, on their doorsteps, by tomorrow evening. Then all the other newbie sheep freak out, and THEY call 3x a day, for 2 weeks straight, and the paranoia explodes. And suddenly everyone's carting their paper back to the retailer demanding a refund.

We opened our account about 3 weeks ago, made an electronic transfer, got the signature cards and welcome packet pretty quickly in the mail. Have had to call twice with questions and customer service was awesome. Love the details that go into the security used to keep your account safe.

So far, so good. Smilie

I opened a savings account with them in Jan to replace the Costco savings account that was going away. Liked them so much (well, actually..got fed up with all the fees that wells started charging my free account), I decided to make them my primary checking account.

10k and you're complaining? With Citibank it's 1k e-check deposit limit! Just opened up a moneymarket account last week at Ally. Citi also limits their transfers out to 2k per day! I had to send Ally a paper check via usps to get some serious money in there. I'll likely open a checking account as well. So far so good.

2k a day?.. ACH transfers? on the other end of the spectrum, BBT let me transfer 250k to another bank without the bat of an eye.. previously at most ive moved 3k at a time (and that was a rare occasion), I kinda expected a call when a large amount of my money is changing hands.
But maybe they just knew it was me leaving because of their sub .4% interest on a jumbo money market account.Wink

Yes, $2,000 ACH transfer maximum from Citi. For wire transfer with fee ($10?) only $50,000 maximum per day! My friend calls them "shitty bank."

I'm lovin Ally. Opening up a checking acct in addition to the mm. Need to keep at least 15k in my "old" citi account to avoid fees. I'll only keep them for old transaction look-up.
