New rules as of July 2013: You can't redeem for more than one $25 bonus gift card per calendar year, and you only get up to $2000@5% per quarter. This card is now almost down to being mediocre... barely any better than Chase Freedom or Discover More cards.

To check earning history or check the start date:

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index...unthistory

Check Application Status (Automated): 800-947-1444

*Categories subject to change quarterly. No limit on the amount of cash back earned.

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index.../demo/true shows the different categories that can be selected for the 5% and 2% options.

Existing customers of US BANK:

Called about a different card I've had over a decade with US Bank.
Casually asked about the Cash+. Rep said that I am already pre-approved for the Cash+; she commented that I would not need a new application or a credit pull if I converted my existing card to the Cash+. Further, said the account number might change but will not show as a new account in the credit report (i.e. the account history/duration stays).
So, if you have a US Bank card you don't use that often...you could just switch.

Direct link to $50 bonus app: http://www.usbank.com/facebookcash

NOTE: If you sign up for next quarters categories like a day or two before the start of that quarter DO NOT USE THE CARD with the expectation of CB BEFORE the 3 business day wait period as it will not be applied.
US BANK takes 3 business days to activate those categories for you. It is a special circumstance that is easily avoidable with all the time given to register, but in my experience my card arrived at 6/28 so my wait period crossed into the next quarter. As it turned out I got no bonus CB on an early purchase just the 1%.

See http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/usa/supplier/ListLoadAction.do for an idea of how stores are classified.

Was told by USBank CSR they can tell you how a payee is categorized with the payee's name and address/zip, so call before you make the bonus selection or transaction.

The following do not count as any valid category so DON'T bother:
1SaleADay (5947)

CSR last night gave me a number to apply by phone. Said it shouldn't be a problem. I personally haven't tried yet because I just woke up and stil have a 'raspy voice' :p

That number was 800-947-1444. And he confirmed last night that they are open Saturday's.
Confirmed that the number works. It puts you through to underwriting, who transfers you to card applications, where you apply. It takes a while, they pitch other banking products (sign up for a checking account with direct deposit and get an extra 0.25% on your rewards), and there aren't any signup bonuses, but I was able to apply for the card.

Just went to select new categories. Home improvement, airlines, billpay officially gone.
In its place - bookstores, cell phone, and sporting goods

What a shame. The 5% bill pay catagory made this the best credit card in existence, imo. Got 5% cah back for home and auto insurance, cable, phone, cell phone, garbage, recycling, natural gas, electric, etc. Wish they would have capped eligible spending at $1,000 per month or so per catagory instead of eliminating the best catagory (and main reason to have the card) completely.

The customer service # for the Cash+ card is 1-800-285-8585. Couldn't hurt for folks to call and register their displeasure. I just did, and the rep was very friendly, knew all about the change, and said she would pass my suggestion up the chain. Hopefully she wasn't pulling my chain.

Yeah that bites. We just got this card because of the bill pay option. We have all our utilizes, cell phones, and whatnot on our credit cards so 5% off was a great deal. I spent a long time researching it and everybody was saying how the category choices were pretty much static, having stayed the same for over 1.5 years. Just goes to figure, had this card 2 months and now they change it! Frown

Very disappointed with the loss of Bill Pay, but I knew it couldn't last. I guess starting in April I will transfer them to a different card. It was a great card before the nerf, and still has some potential.

Any word on if Amazon will count as "Bookstore" for the 5%? That will probably be the only way I keep this card in my rotation.

This card just lost its only reason I was keeping it, bill pay. Don't really see a reason to keep this card now and I've only had it for a month.

Citi Forward Visa registers all of Amazon as a bookstore, which has allowed for 5 thank you points/$1 spend. I'm hoping with both being visas they classify as the same. While losing Home Improvement and Bill Pay is a bummer, a straight 5% (6.25% if you hold out) cash back for Amazon is a decent co

Depends on how much you spend on Amazon I guess. We have around $350-$400 of automated bill payments on this card right now and I don't spend remotely that much a month at Amazon. Also it won't be 6.25% since the bonus $25 per $100 redeemed is being limited to once per calendar year as well. All in all getting 5% off at Amazon won't be enough to make me want to keep using this card so once these changes go into effect this card will go into the drawer. Sucks.

Pretty upset they took away bill pay. That is the major reason I got this card.

restaurants and fast-food is diff??
the way I see it,

fast food = self service. you wait in line, order at the register, wait for food, pick up food as togo or for here (at the fastfood location) and you bring your food to a designated table you choose. you clean up after yourself ( your fked up if you dont )

restaurant = you are seated to a table, a waiter arrives at your table and takes your order and then delivers your table. you eat, and then leave without cleaning up after yourself
