Because DISH network is dropping AMC, they are offering their customers a free Roku XD player if you call/chat and say you might switch providers because of AMC. Depending on your subscription and account status you may not be eligible for this offer and you may also be able to get a statement credit of $5/month for 6 months or $10/mo for 12 months in addition to the Roku.

It's an interesting move for a major provider to encourage customers to get their programming via a network player. Slippery slope.

I straight up ask for a roku and $10 off for next 12 months. AND I GOT IT!!!

However wrong it may be, i did not subscribe to AMC and I said that I wanted the AMC channel yet they did not provide it. I said that I watched it on dvd and now I wanted it on my tv. I also said that I did not have a xbox or a ps3 and neither did I have a smart tv. And I got the box!!! I did not get the credit.

This is for those with 200 channels or more..

I called the number mentioned in this post and told them that I had the 120 plus package and wanted to upgrade to 200 package for getting AMC. I was given the upgrade (which costs $10 more) and 6 months credit for $10 each ($60), One time credit for $30 for the 10 episodes of Breaking Bad, Free Roku box, $50 one time credit for the inconvenience of having to go through Roku. Just an FYI for other SDers trying to call in.

Contract does not get extended just for getting the Roku. You can get in on this deal even if you are in contract.

America's 200 and up had the AMC, IFC, WE channels. Other lower packages had AMC if you were grand fathered in or on some welcome packages.

Get the Roku, ask for HDMI cable, one time credit of $30-50, $5-10 credit for 6-12 months. Maybe even hbo.show.max for free for 3 -6 months.

I'm moving so I had called them yesterday to cancel my account effective in a couple weeks. Then I saw that I might get one last 20 dollar credit and a free Roku. I called and cancelled my cancellation. Fifteen minutes later I called the 1-888-581-1972 and told the first guy that I'm bummed about not having AMC. He asks me which shows I watch. I tell him the walking dead and breaking bad. He tells me I can go to Amazon and download the programs. He offers me a onetime credit of 20 dollars to offset the cost of getting the programs through Amazon. I said I would have no way to watch it on my TV. He then asks me if I have a Playstation 3 or a smart TV. I play dumb and say no. He then says let me transfer you to another rep to see what they can offer you. I get transferred to another person. She asks me what I thought of what the previous guy offered me. I said I had no way to watch the programs on my TV because all I have is a desktop computer. She then without hardly any hesitation asks me if I have wireless internet. I say yes. She then not only offers me the onetime 20 dollar credit but also the Roku. Then I said 20 dollars won't last very long if I'm buying these programs from Amazon. She then says she will also be adding 10 dollars off per month for 12 months. I'll be cancelling as soon as I get the free Roku. I am NOT on contract and had the 250 programming which included AMC so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Im on chat now and didnt have AMC and was offered 3 months of Blockbuster and I asked about Roku and they are saying one moment
edit: They said hold on while I am transferred to the special department and I am number 88 in queue lol

Just called Dish. Total call length less than 7 minutes. CSR Immediately offered me a free roku with $30 credit to purchase programming, and $10 off my bill for the next 6 months. Sweet deal.

I got the Roku.

Didn't haggle for the other stuff cause I have a discount from something previous and as much as I've tried in the past they won't throw anything else on or take any cash off. lol

Just a quick update. Called them and was transferred to an account specialist.

I told them I was thinking of switching and they first offered $10 off a month for a year ($120 discount). I asked about Roku and they said that they could send me the box and also give me $10 off a month for 6 months ($60 discount) as well as 3 months of premium channels.

FYI, I have been with Dish for 2 and a half years, out of contract, and have never subscribed to a package that included AMC.
