Adding Tomato to a Linksys WRT610N ver. 2

BudgetBargainer 382 380 July 6, 2012 at 06:51 PM
I bought this router when it was on sale a little while ago and heard mention of using Tomato with it...but I honestly have no idea what Tomato is and what it would do for me. Does anyone know some good places where I can figure out how to install the thing for this particular router or mind a quick tutorial of sorts?

Thanks in advance look around

Tomato Link []

Use link above to get started...your router is listed under Compatibility/Build Types [] as an R2 CPU, K26 compatible - all build types. That means, on the download page [], use Kernel 2.6 (experimental) for MIPSR2 Routers...pick the version that fits your needs (build types link above) - but probably either Ext or VPN will be your choice.

They have some tutorials on their website for installations. Just check them out and read up on it there; or, just google's pretty straitforward, so try not to worry too much about it.

Tomato USB is your basic Tomato firmware with USB router compatibility. Additionally, you can use mod versions [] that you might have heard tossed around ("Toastman", "Shibby", etc.) - but if you're just figuring out how to install Tomato right now, I'm guessing you don't have a need for any additional stuff.

Congrats on updating to a good/useful firmware for your router!
