Save $10 for 20 months by ordering through AAA. Call 1-800-370-3578.

Get a $150 Best Buy gift card if you activate service and spend $399 or more at Best Buy. bestbuy.directv.com

You may also stack the Directv referral discount. Use an existing Direct TV customer as your referral and you and the referral will each save $10 for 10 months. You must order service through the specific means above and then prior to your installation date call 877-848-4623 with your referral account to have them add this discount. You cannot order through the referral line and then call for the Costco, AAA, or Best Buy deal. You can however stack the referral discount and the Costco discount easily by completing your order online.

Any questions, please ask. Numerous posters on this board have Directv and there have been numerous money saving threads on here as well. Directv is one of the easier companies to get discounts and perks through.

I just signed up. The rep said the viacom deal has been settled and you get nickjr and comedy central etc. I got a referral code off e bay so I got an extra $10 off per month for 10 months. I think its a pretty good deal. Also, if you are in Boise, you can bundle with CenturyLink internet (phone + internet + directtv) for $99 a month.
then you were lied to. Viacom stated yesterday that talks have moved backwards and they are no longer in contact.

Is the costco card still valid? Per costco's site it says valid until 07/18/12.

I called in on Tuesday and Signed up for the existing offer at that time. They wouldnt credit me the Sunday ticket max. Called back this morning and told them I want to cancel and resignup with a AAA offer (not a member but family member is). They didnt want me to do that (assume they hate having cancellations) so they transferred me to some manager who redid the package with sunday ticket max and added the 10 off for 20 months.

Choice Ultimate Package with whole home DVR and three HD boxes:

58 a month for months 1-12
78 a month for months 13-20
88 a month for months 21-24.

Going to try and add the referral as well after installation.

So the extra $5 off per month disappeared now.

If you're referring to the $5 per month rebate, still there. I called in and received it, plus used a referral code. Unfortunately, it's referral code or costco gift card, can't do both =(

Beware that they may raise prices after the first year and you don't have a way out due to the tight contract

Every provider raises prices every year. You can alway call and try to get a better price once your discounts run out.

For those of you who have directv already, i was at the end of my original 24 month agreement. So i called and said i was going to cancel cause it was too expensive. This is what I got out of the deal:

$20 off for 10 months
Free DVR service for 10 months = $8 a month
Sunday NFL ticket free for 2012.

I also added an additional HD DVR box for free (less the$6 per month fee). All in all a pretty good deal i think. If you are at the end of your contact just call and say you will cancel and see what they give you.

OTA broadcasting.

This is what "bunny ears" receive. Theses channels are all your local basic channels 3, 5, 10, etc.

As long as your TV has a tuner built into it (a place to plug in a coax cable) and you have some type of antenna you can received local broadcasts in HD.

If you want to record/DVR you will need to look into something like a Windows Media Center PC.

This is the only way to get off the cable/sat tit.

Not with the signup deals....prices are locked for your initial contract per the website prices.

Some do not know what over-the-air TV is? I must be getting old.

So, how is AAA membership verified when ordering through that number? Can I use granny's member number?
