Feels like a pricey router, even though the price is good.

I decided to get in on this deal. My 5 year old modem/router is needing replaced. My crappy Belkin router lost connection daily. I will miss my SB5121 though it's been rock solid. Time for a upgrade to DOCSIS 3 and IPv6 though. Shoprunner FTW!!

It looks like the modem would work for Xfinity/Comcast: http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/

I don't think you can buy a modem for voice.

Ugh. I just bought an apple airport extreme for $120 and still need a modem and was going to get that exact one. Hmmmmm. This is very tempting. Wonder how the asus router compares to the airport extreme?? I imagine it's close enough to make it worth just reselling the apple extreme

an airport extreme for $120? That's a good deal lol

I have an RT-N53, it's a great router for the $$, but the menus are written in Engrish and not as good as a highly configurable router would be (like the dir-655 was)

Does this router support IPv6 yet?

The one that Comcast "rents' to us has VOIP for phone. It's crappy. Looks like the VOIP modems are labeled SBV ("SURFboard VOIP") and not just SB.

Do your research carefully on this router. I bought one of these refurb from Amazon a few months back. They constantly disconnect from the cable modem every day or so. It is a known issue, just google it. There are custom firmwares which help somewhat but the problem still occurs. Nice fast router other than that.
