spg 30k bonus back starwood amex signup bonus 30000 pts

from the site:
I got word that American Express would be bringing back the 30,000 point signup bonus for the Starwood co-branded credit card beginning Tuesday, August 7th.

Two summers ago American Express introduced a 30,000 point signup bonus on their Starwood cards for the first time. They repeated it in 2011.

30,000 points may not seem like a ton in a world of 50,000 and 100,000 point bonuses. But Starwood points are the single most valuable currency there is, in large measure due to their flexibility.

TRUE
been waiting on the 30k bonus to return.

Dead!

If you have had this card in the past 12 months, you will not be able to get this current offer. However, if you have had it before that, you can go ahead and apply again to get this bonus. If you have had a personal card (or have), you can get the business card and get the bonus. Or vice versa. The SPG card is a great card and has exceptional value so I would move on this!

The Offer:

FOR A LIMITED TIME: earn up to 30,000 bonus points — 10,000 with your first purchase and another 20,000 when you spend $5000 within the first 6 months of Cardmembership – enough for a weekend getaway

The business and personal offers will be going away by September 3rd and 4th, respectively, according to what AMEX has sent with their links.

Highlights:

These cards have great points + cash payment options that stretch their worth.

You earn 25,000 airline miles when you transfer 20,000 starpoints to a miles program partner.

Flights and nights costs 60,00 starpoints for five free nights in category 3 hotel or resort plus 50,000 airline miles.

Flights and nights ii costs 70,000 starpoints for five free nights in category 4 hotel or resort plus 50,000 airline miles

if you get both personal and business you would have enough starpoints, after minimum spending, for either of those flights and nights options.

Downside:

Not best card for travel abroad: There are foreign transaction fees of 2.7% and no emv chip.

Basic earn rate: Only earn bonus starpoints from spending at hotels and not for everyday purchases like the citi hilton reserve

CORRECTION ap says you earn 1 point for every dollar spent no matter where

I work for Starwood. Here's the details so far. It WAS 20,000 points, but it's been increased to 30,000 points for this promotion. The promotion starts at 10am EST and ends Sept 3,2012 11pm EST. You get 10,000 for your first purchase and then 20,000 with $5,000 eligibile spending in 6 months. HTH.

Same situation here. I guess I will call or send them a message to get the extra 5000 points.

SPG points are valued at the minimum 3 cents per point and as high as 5.3 cents per points using the spg points plus cash hotel redemption.

Love SPG. They gave me a huge suite in KL in Malaysia some years ago for 4000pts.
Should have been a $200/night hotel. Insane.

People have reported success churning if its been at least 2 years since cancelling but this is always YMMV.

Perhaps you could try applying for the biz card.
