I'm shopping for a new laptop and a lot of the ones I'm considering have either AMD A8 processors with Radeon 7640G graphics, or AMD A10 processors with Radeon 7660G graphics. There are also a couple with Intel i5 processors and Geforce 630M graphics, and since that's a discrete card I'm not sure if that's automatically better.
I don't know how much difference these specs would make for my purposes anyway. I surf the web (with a bunch of tabs), stream music or TV, and I only play casual games except Sims 3. I'd also like to play Sims 4 when it comes out and of course no one knows the requirements yet but I don't think it would be extremely demanding.
Also, if you get discrete graphics does that mean you need less RAM since the graphics card has its own memory?
Anyway, I don't want to spend extra money to get a laptop that performs high above what I actually would be using it for, and after a lot of searching I'm still not sure about these things, so any advice would be appreciated
As for the ram included in the graphics card, it doesn't exactly mean that you need less ram, as much as it means that it has some dedicated ram that is perfectly matched and will not gobble up a ton of your computer's ram.
That's really poorly explained, but it's too late at night for me to do any better.
The important part to convey is that it does NOT mean that you can or should use less ram in your computer.
