I have been searching for a treadmill lately, and went to my local Dicks Sporting Goods. While there, I noticed they have the 9.23 for $1099.98 and the 9.27 model for $1299.98. Keep in mind, both of these retail at or over $2000.

Precor 9.23 [precor.com]

The lowest price I could find for these treadmills is $1599 for the 9.23, pretty common and seems to be the new retail price, and $1999 for the 9.27. Those prices can be found online, don't include tax for most states and often have free shipping. Amazon [amazon.com]has both models for these prices, along with a few others I found.

This price is good until September 8, 2012, according to the instore sticker. After doing a lot of research, running on treadmills, and talking with a few technicians I am sold on the precor line of treadmills. They are built so solid, and if all you're looking for is a treadmill to run on m opinion is that this is among the top brands to get. At this price, I think this is a steal. Consumer reports rates the 9.31 as their highest rated treadmill at 85 overall, $4000 treadmill, and the 9.23 is less than half the price and came in with a score of 78.

Treadmill Doctor gives 9.23 great scores and it's their best buy: LINK [treadmilldoctor.com]

If you're in the market for a treadmill, go check out a Precor. I was close to simply settling for a Nordicktrack/Proform or something of that level/quality. I must say, I'm so glad I didn't fall for the ones at the same price that have all the frills (iPod dock, 20 running programs, heart rate strap, etc.) I wanted something I could run on for years and years, and I'm thinking I may have found it for a great price.

I chose the Precor 9.23 over the 9.27, because the only additions are a different module that allows for use with a heart rate strap, 2 user profiles, 4 more running programs, and metal side boards next to the belt. Nothing major, as it has the same platform/engine/belt/etc. Basically, pay more for more frills. However, the 9.27 is probably the better "deal" if you're looking for money off the original price. The 9.23 allows me to run at any pace I'd like, which is all I wanted. I will use a heart rate monitor watch with it, so it's not a big deal to me.

I hope this helps someone else find success in finding their treadmill like I did.

I looked on the Dick's website and it doesn't show any Precor models at all so I'll probably have to call their store to see what's up.

I noticed the same, no models on their website. However, they are in their stores. This is the first year they carried Precor, and the last, according to one of their workers. It's worth a call.

The new treadmill models typically come out in October, so now's a good time to buy their display models as well. The store I went to get mine at had a Sole F85 on sale for $750, and those retail at $2000. Now is the time to buy.

So I just called my local Dick's and was told the 9.23 is at $1600 and the 9.27 is $2000. I guess prices are much different here in Illinois, this state sucks.

I just stopped into my local Dicks's in WI and it was 1099. The delivery and installation was also marked down to only $69. Signed up for the credit card to get 10% off. I was literally going to buy the 9.23 on Amazon this weekend for $1599. You just saved me $500. Thank you!

I just bought the floor model 9.27 at the Dicks in Ann Arbor and I got it for $779.97 (40% off lowest price for floor model). Reads just about any heart rate chest strap you can find, inclines to 15 degrees, it is a steal for $780.00

This deal is still out there. I got a 9.23 for $550 in Dayton (store moving sale). Great treadmill, I realize that folding treadmills are in a league below these precors.

$550 is an awesome deal. I was happy to get my 9.23 for $700. Great treadmill for the price

Are they giving 40% off for just the precor models? Or is 40% off pretty standard for all floo models there?

I picked up a Precor 9.27 this week as a Xmas gift; I stumbled across this thread while googling around, and am so happy I did. Dick's didn't have any Precor models on their website but after calling around, several of the stores still had the 9.23 and (more rarely) the 9.27 still in stock. If they had treadmills still in the box (in the back) then the sale price was pretty great, but if they had only a floor model, then the discount was an additional 40% off (although this may change from store to store, one store had a 9.23 at 25% only). Signing up for a Dick's credit card and buying that way would have gotten me an additional 10% (78$) off, but I didn't qualify for an immediate card. Anyway, I was able to buy a $2000 treadmill for my dad for only $780, probably the best deal I've ever made. SO glad I found this thread...

Anyway, during my hunt I called several stores in the Portland, OR area and surrounding suburbs, and most still had one or more Precors for sale.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I've been looking for a treadmill for a month now, but was completely unsure of which one to get. I saw the Precor's at my local Dick Sporting Goods (Which, by the way, their website is not docks.com), but passed as the $1100 sale price was out of my price range. After reading your post, I called around as well, and found a store with just the floor model available. Got them to give me 50% off - so ended up buying the 9.23 for $550. A steal, to say the least.

Your post was back in August, so too soon to take advantage of the sale prices and further clearance prices.
If you're still looking, now is the time to buy. Based on my research, there are a few stores in the burbs that only have the floor model, and would most likely be willing to deal.
The stores were:
9.23 model - Arlington Heights and Schaumburg
9.27 model - Orland Park, Schaumburg, Algonquin, Deer Park, and Bloomingdale.

When I got mine the other day, the price tag still showed the normal sale price. I had to get a manager involved to get the extra 50% off.

Just an FYI. Today I was able to get Precor 9.27 for $1299 with free delivery and premium instalation from Leisure Fitnesss by price matching against Dicks. The Leisure Fitnesss is authorized dealer so you get 7 year warranty instead of 5 offered by Dicks, you get brand new threadmill rather than floor model at modest discount and you get service and support of your local fitness provider (good luck with Dicks).
