The lowest price I could find for these treadmills is $1599 for the 9.23, pretty common and seems to be the new retail price, and $1999 for the 9.27. Those prices can be found online, don't include tax for most states and often have free shipping. Amazon has both models for these prices, along with a few others I found.
This price is good until September 8, 2012, according to the instore sticker. After doing a lot of research, running on treadmills, and talking with a few technicians I am sold on the precor line of treadmills. They are built so solid, and if all you're looking for is a treadmill to run on m opinion is that this is among the top brands to get. At this price, I think this is a steal. Consumer reports rates the 9.31 as their highest rated treadmill at 85 overall, $4000 treadmill, and the 9.23 is less than half the price and came in with a score of 78.
Treadmill Doctor gives 9.23 great scores and it's their best buy: LINK
If you're in the market for a treadmill, go check out a Precor. I was close to simply settling for a Nordicktrack/Proform or something of that level/quality. I must say, I'm so glad I didn't fall for the ones at the same price that have all the frills (iPod dock, 20 running programs, heart rate strap, etc.) I wanted something I could run on for years and years, and I'm thinking I may have found it for a great price.
I chose the Precor 9.23 over the 9.27, because the only additions are a different module that allows for use with a heart rate strap, 2 user profiles, 4 more running programs, and metal side boards next to the belt. Nothing major, as it has the same platform/engine/belt/etc. Basically, pay more for more frills. However, the 9.27 is probably the better "deal" if you're looking for money off the original price. The 9.23 allows me to run at any pace I'd like, which is all I wanted. I will use a heart rate monitor watch with it, so it's not a big deal to me.
I hope this helps someone else find success in finding their treadmill like I did.
