Deal Details

I was doing some research on getting some maintenance done on my SLK when I found an offer from Mercedes-Benz USA. I entered my information and received a $125 gift card that can be used on maintenance and repair service of $250 or more at a dealership. Not applicable on over-the-counter parts or accessories, or combined with other offers, but will take a nice chunk out of a flex-a or -b service. Mine expires 12.31.12.

In the past the value of these coupons has varied as well as dealerships allowing discounts on accessories.

Offer not applicable for over-the-counter Parts or Accessories purchases. Offer cannot be combined with any other service offers or coupons. Must present coupon at time of service to recieve offer. $75 off $150 for 06 E55
$125 off $250 for 06 ML350

Got the invalid VIN message too, when trying to get the ML coupon. Figured it had to do with getting 2 coupons at the same household. Used an in-private browsing window in Chrome and made a few minor changes to my info and it worked like a charm (may have just been a coincidence, though).

As far as the remark about $100+ oil changes - it's not so bad when you consider you only have to get one a year under normal driving conditions (using synthetic).

BTW..re oil changes....that reminds me. I bought my '87 SDL on eBay 8-9 years ago! I had been looking for one for a year! One reason I bought it was the prior owner had all of his oil changes done at the dealer for the first 100,000+ miles!! Amazing.
Why do you think the mechanics at the dealer are any different from the small store next to me where I do my oil change? Heck they allow me to use my own oil and filter

Assuming it's not a rhetorical question...

Generally the technicians at a dealership are usually required to be certified by the manufacturer whereas your local mom & pop, are not. This isn't always the case, and even if it is, it doesn't mean that your dealership is 'better' or 'worse' than the mom & pop.

You get what you pay for. If you want someone who only works on Mercedes to service your car - then take it to the dealer. You'll also get free food/drink - at mine they have a pool table, Xbox & Kinect for the kids, and TVs. At the Jag dealer they have a full 18 course video golf simulator where you hit the ball onto a huge screen. Optionally, you can get a loaner Mercedes for the day. For that you pay $250 for an oil change.

You can go to a Mom & Pop place - get the same type of oil and filter - no frills - $90.

On my leased cars - I go to the mom and pops - on my purchase vehicles (still under warranty) I go to the dealership. This way there is no excuse the company can give me that the repair is not covered. Once it's out of warranty - off to mom & pop I go.

I like the service I get from the dealers, but I don't have the time or patience to deal with them. The money isn't really an issue - seriously, we are talking about $160 difference every 10,000 miles -
